• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi everyone, I am looking for firmware for a newly brought EF Johnson viking vp600. I have armada software, just looking to see if how to get ahold of the firmware, my radio has version 8.20. I do realize that the vp600 has been discontinued. Thank you very much. I am trying to program it to my hotspot as I am a ham , so far I* cannot receive or transmit to the hotspot and have put the my dmr number in the radio id. I know these are two seperate questions. thanks again.

I'm not an EFJ or hotspot guy but you do have a TG on transmit enabled on the radio right? If not make sure you do, and make sure a NAC of 293 is set up too.

Fwiw, the last f/w for those is 8.30.16. I don't have a way to get it to you though, but at least you know what to look for.
Meanwhile, I don't know what you're trying to do, but those radios don't do DMR. Only P25. If it has the license for it...

If you purchased Armada then the firmware files can be downloaded from Fileshare.

I have a legal copy of the software but I did not get the firmware with it but the problem is solved, got the firmware but still having problems with p25 and the hotspot, I can receive but cannot transmit, I am sure it is a user error. And yes I know the radio is only p25, you have to enter your dmr id for the hotspot to allow access to the talk groups.

Can you show a screen shot of your programming for your radio? It's been a while since I programmed a Kenwood radio for use with a hotspot, but if I remember correctly you need 1). 7digit DMR Id, 2). The NAC to match whatever you programmed into you hotspot, usually 293, 3). The TG you want to talk on programmed into the TG list in the radio and that has to be programmed into the personality settings, along with the correct frequency and mode. Once everything matches up it should work. You might have to check the Hotspot frequency calibration also.
Take care
