If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,

I'm new to radios and recently bought two XTS 5000s. However, I've been encountering some issues lately regarding signal transmission.

Let's just say I have Radio A and Radio B, both are XTS 5000 models.

Radio A specs:
  • Codeplug: 0024
  • Firmware: R20.00.10
  • Bootloader: R03.50.00
Radio B specs:
  • Codeplug: 0022
  • Firmware: R20.00.00
  • Bootloader: R01.02.10
Radio A functions normally without any problems. However, I am facing an issue with Radio B. When I use B to transmit to A, everything works smoothly. But when I use A to transmit to B, Radio B suddenly turns off and restarts. It seems that upon receiving an incoming signal, it just shuts down and reboots to the Self-test screen.

I have also checked and confirmed that the battery is not the issue.

Could this be related to the differences in Codeplug, Firmware version, or Bootloader? And what should I do to resolve this problem?

Thank you very much.

How close are the two radios when this happens? Move them further apart and try again.

Frank
I tested it at different distances. First in the same spot, then 20-30 feet away. Radio B still had the same problem.

If you figure this out let me know, I have model 1 that does this exact same thing. Im pretty sure its the VOCON board, but i didnt care enough to harvest one out of an 800 meg radio and re-program and re align.

Hello. I don't know if your problem is the same as mine. But hopefully my method will help you.

This morning I tried to do Drag & Drop on the problem radio. I used an operational radio, copied all its settings, then perform Drag & Drop all of them to the broken radio. Then I filled in all missing parameters in the Invalid Field section. And then my broken radio was working normally again.
