This incident was originally a DV call at 4491 S Shingle Rd. The suspect fled with a gun towards the east end of Tammy Lane. The main traffic is on ED SO Main 159.555, there is related traffic on other "local" channels such as Camino Fire 154.430 and Cal Fire 151.190.

From what it looks like, suspect may be in bushes down, not moving ( for quite some time ) - I would think he's injured/shot. Looks like they just threw a couple flashbang in his direction.

Suspect confirmed dead.

I laughed out loud watching KCRA,
Walt Gray was explaining how they want to treat this type of situation, where there may be a dead body, they don't want to zoom in and give graphic visiual details.

As Walt is explaining the "policy" Dan Shively in LiveCopter 3 HD screamed out ....

HE'S DEAD, HE'S GOT BLOOD ALL OVER!!

oh the timing, too funny.

Well, I hope that these deputies are okay. I know two of them, one of those is a good family friend (and was also first on scene).

I did not know the dog; but I'm pulling for him too!

Mick,

Most of those are correct. Nix the Low band (no longer used in this county) and even the UHF stuff (point to point links/portables). Stay with the VHF.

I followed this incident long before it became as serious as it turned out to be. It sounded like a routine call for EMS, but with staging required. I too laughed at KCRA but for a lot of different reasons. They had no clue as to what started this incident and the speculations were all over the map. Even Diedra who was in the news room listening to scanners was not relaying some of the significant facts I was hearing. I had 3 scanners going, plus the TV near the end, and it was an earfull.

Dan does an incredible job. Flying the helicopter, being live talent, talking to any other air traffic out there, talking to the producer/director on a UHF freq and in this case also talking to law enforcement. For something he mentions to a producer to happen to make its way to live air on KCRA is inevitable. It amazes more more stuff doesn't slip out.

I also heard traffic that indicated the deputies and the K9 are OK. The one point in this incident that still stands out in my mind is this one:... one deputy on the radio says officers and K9 have been shot. He needs medical attention and has been shot in the chest. Dispatch helos for everyone and EMS now. A short while later a LE helicopter is in the area, and the pilot says he's coming to get the officers. He knows it is a hostile area, but he'll get them. WOW.

Suspect 11-44.

I listened to this incident for about two hours, 1115-1315. Never really heard what happened to the original shooting victim or circumstances. Never heard anymore from the female deputy who was one of the first on the scene. I wonder if she was one who got shot? Heard the other deputy say he was shot. Very, very confusing situation. Lots of bad comms, H24 and others kept breaking up. Heard "stop shooting" many times. Didn't sound too good at all. Watched it on ch 3 also with sound off. Suspect's brother was involved also. Norm.

Suspect Dead, 3 Deputies And K-9 Unit Shot

(CBS13) SHINGLE SPRINGS The man suspected of shooting three El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies and K-9 unit in Shingle Springs is dead, says the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department.

A massive manhunt for a shooting suspect in the El Dorado County ended at around 1:00 p.m. today after the body of the suspect was found near Sunset Ln. and South Shingle Rd.

Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at 11:40 a.m. today on Tammy Lane near South Shingle Road. When they arrived, the suspect allegedly shot at the deputies, hitting one in the shoulder and another in the chest. A third deputy and a K-9 unit were also shot.

An injured female deputy was flown to the Sutter Roseville Medical center. She was seen waving to fellow officers as she was wheeled on a gurney into the hospital. Lt. House of the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department says none of the deputies have life-threatening injuries.

The K-9 unit was taken to the vet. The status of the animal is unknown.

Lt. House said he did not know if the man shot himself or if a deputy shot the suspect.

Officers from Folsom Police Department and Sacramento Sheriff's Department helped in the search for the suspect.
