Elizabeth House Fire | 5280FIRE
09/03 ~ Just before 15:00 Elizabeth, Rattlesnake & Franktown Firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1293 Oxford Way. An off-duty I.C.E. Agent traveling on CR158 noticed the smoke, drove to the home, reported it to 911 and forced the front door for a primary search after there was no answer. Assisted by an Elbert County Sheriff Deputy, two family pets were safely rescued and it was determined that no one was home. First arriving Engine 273 reported heavy smoke showing from the charlie side and pulled an 1 3/4 for interior attack. Engine 271 set up rural water supply operations at the base of the driveway and assisted 273 with searches and fire attack. Additional units were requested South Metro & Elbert. Chief 270 assumed command and assigned Chief 252 as Operations. Flames extending up the delta side were knocked with a back-up line while crews knocked fire on both floors and the attic. Engine 184 performed vertical ventilation and all searches proved negative. Companies remained on scene for several hours overhauling, no injuries were reported and an investigator was on scene.
