They probably had a unit that couldn't get out on their 800 radios so they switched to Old Med 5 and talked and the dispatcher forgot to turn off the simualcast of the UHF and 800. We probably won't hear it very much longer once someone figures out that the UHF is still on.

One of the EMSA SSCs used to simulcast. I think he said he did it just to hear himself, or just because he could, I don't remember why he said he did it.

I do know that the UHF is still monitored though. Other ambulances that run calls for EMSA or do mutual aid with them can talk to them on the UHF. Also, I've talked to them on my handheld within the last month on UHF.

Hey guys! I wondered how long it would be before somebody picked up on it! :) We had some problems with the 800 system so we started simulcasting just incase it happened again. The preston tower was having some issues and so the techs switched it to site trunking only. Well when the control ch. in Tulsa recieves intereference it rolls to a new one, which causes the radios to look for a new site. When they do they were picking up Preston which was going into site trunking mode leaving them not able to hear or talk to us. The radio doesn't like site trunking so eventually it roams over to the new Tulsa control ch. but until then we can't get ahold of them. To eliminate this I suggessted we simulcast on Med 5, just in case, until Preston is back 10-8.
