Emterra Environmental Will be taking over Garbage pickup in the Niagara regional on February 28 2011, Modern Landfill was doing this for several years. Does anyone know the radio frequencies or Trunked System they will be using.

No Idea but if they are wide area it will either be LTR passport or Tellus/mike. The only other large area coverage system would be the bell 10-4. Of corse its possible they will be using cells.

I've worked for this company previously on serveral contracts before I went to Modern Landfill. They are partial to Telus/MIKE so my guess would be they will stay with it since they still have a contract with Telus/MIKE for their Brant County trucks, however its anyones guess.....I will advise when I see the new trucks roll in to the landfill on the 1st of march

Hello. Saw a couple of the new trucks today, seems they are using some sort of VHF/UHF open coverage for the entire region. They only have 2 channels one for the garbage trucks and one for recycling.

Thanks Homerjay, I just put a list of LPU (LOW POWER UNIT) frequencies into my 396t scanner and I will scan them and also run CLOSE CALL at the same time to see if I lock onto something, I know they will be starting in Fort Erie very early in the morning and they want to be in Niagara Falls by the early afternoon so I should be able to catch them.

Well I work in the regional landfill in Grimsby. Im going to keep my 396T on close call when they start rolling in every afternoon see if I catch anything. Generally after the truck unload they pull off the scale and sit for a bit, I would imagine they are calling in to see where to go next.

A close friend of mine is a one of the supers there and he may show up there soon so I'll get the best look at the radios when i see him.

Good Luck Hope you can find something, I tried most of the day today to find the frequency but all I found was that Modern Landfill was still doing the Bins with the Bin Trucks they were very busy and were in Beamsville, Port Colborne, and Fort Erie Picking up. They are on this system still,

Talk Wireless (Fonthill 160 MHz) Trunking System, Fonthill, Ontario - Scanner Frequencies

0-09-010 Modern Landfill Inc. Commercial Division

Unless this has been abandoned by Modern Landfill and taken over by the new company ??? They Emterra Environmental did pickup the recyclables at my apartment building today and I don't know why Modern Landfill would still be doing the Bins with there bin trucks

My Garbage day is tomorrow and I will start listening around 8:00 AM so they will be all over Fort Erie hope to catch something, I'll post anything here.

No 0-09-010 is still in use by Modern Landfill. They have 2 divisions (well 1 now) which is the commercial side.

I have just recently found out they are on a TalkWireless system I'm just not sure what one. Look for lots of chatter and it will be on 2 separate channels. They have one region wide for garbage truck and one region wide for recycling.

What about the UHF one? Im planning on monitoring that one tomorrow at work. Ive had my scanner on close call at work since Emterra started and it doesnt pick anything up even if Im standing beside the guys while they are on the radio. However all their radios have a talkwireless sticker and radio ID number attached to them
