• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Been tryingt do program a Aegis MPA for listening in to our local law enforcement agency for some time now but it just wont work.

They are using EDAC digital unencrypted but it seems like i can´t get the radio to work on anything else but EDAC analog. Found something written somewere about a encrypt/decrypt option needed before the radio will work in AEGIS. But what is this option? The radio is acording to its Modl nr: PAPATK a EDAC Aegis VGE radio. Is there something i´ve missed?

Any help would be apreciated.

you need to also make sure that your local agency is actually using AEGIS as opposed to ProVoice.

I don't think there are many AEGIS systems left out there.... the voice quality for AEGIS is terrible.

Thank´s for all the help..

I made it work.
Let´s sort out some stuff out first..

I forgot to write that i was trying to monitor the Swedish Law enforcement EDACS system. Here in sweden we know little or nothing about EDACS more or less. The only swedish EDACS system in use i know of is this police system. I think they got it somethime in the early 90´s and they are in fact using an Aegis Undencrypted digital format.

Now to my problem. Since not even Ericsson Sweden (Telenor Connect, they change name just as frequently as GE, HI) knows anything about EDACS in general this is more or less the only way i can get any help.

The thing was that the radio i first tried to use had an old software. I had put the VGE encryption board in it and didn´t even think about the fact that i have to reflash the software in it as well. I borrowed another MPA from a friend with newer software and it worked right away. Is there anyone that can help me get hold of a flash code file version I7568M06 or later for the MPA Aegis VGE or know if there is anyway of copying the flash code from the other radio? I would be very grateful for the help.

Great thank´s for the help so far.
