• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I have noticed that all main of the agencies County Sheriff, City Police, County EMS, have switched over to possibly Encrypted P25!

Plugged in the freqs in my motorola astro and whenever they were transmitting i got the R2D2 (starwars) sound, and the double flash led, (meaning its encrypted)..... Well the S.O. seems to be Encrypted 24/7 and Police just regular P25 with a few encrypted transmissions, and EMS I can hear an occasional P25 Transmission, all tho mainly Analog.....

What County are you in?

In Travis County it is rarely encrypted, except Drugs, HLS, and Surviellance...

Must be like Laredo, which shows all of its police channels encrypted. Maybe the border area agencies don't want traffickers listening in since they assist border patrol and others.

Everyone is scrambling to get P25 Digital for the Texas DPS. But I can guarantee that the "old" frequencies will be used once in a while. Examples: 155.3700, and 154.9500. So keep those old frequencies in there, but make room for the new ones!
