By accident the scanner started scanning while etrunker was running.

Oddly enough this seems to be working????

What am I missing or is this really working, scanning while tracking?

I setup my conventional scanner (the one with the discriminator tap) to scan the trunking system in case the data channel changes. This way it is able to always find the new data channel when it changes. It seems to work pretty well. I don't know if this is what you're talking about or not, but it works great for me.

As Stupidfatkid pointed out, putting the scanner in conventional mode and setting up the possible CC's in a bank allows you to let the radio/trunker system work on it's own, unattended. If the CC changes the scanner will lock onto it in short order and Trunker will continue.

You didn't say if you had the scanner in Conventional or EDACS mode. If you had it in EDACS mode and let it scan, ETrunk will still work except when the scanner left the CC to monitor a voice frequency, it is no longer providing data to the computer so you miss whatever happens during that period. When the voice channel frees up and you return to CC ETrunk takes a moment to resync but you have lost whatever happened in the mean time. If you end up listening to a series of transmissions, you can understand that you have now lost all of that time off of the CC as far as CC data acquisition is concerened. This is of course applicable to Moto systems and MTrunker also. :)
