Exemplar trunked system

There's a new trunked system that went in near me, and I've been finding the LCNs, deciphering talkgroups, and listening to the chit chat. I'm not a total expert, but I know quite a bit about the system.

I looked at the detailed site info page, and I see blanks in various categories such as "Site Neighbors" "Site Location" "No location and range data available for this site" etc.

I have notes about various talkgroups, and a big list of the users and their radio IDs (since they have a MDC 1200 ANI at the end of each transmission).

I'm just wondering--what exactly are you looking for in the DB? How specific should the "Description" field of the talkgroups be? I thought they should be short and sweet, and the alpha tag 16 characters or less. Is there another field such as "notes" that only the DB admins see, but I don't because it's blank?

The description should convey what the TG's are used for. Anything that would hint to usage. Nothing like "Unit 1 calling Unit 2".

We don't have any internal fields. What's in for a system is what everyone sees.

Should it be capped at a specific length? Here's what RR member Wilrobinson wrote on Intercept NW:

...the heavy duty housekeeping staff are the ones that use the floor buffers, carpet cleaners, etc, and do the heavy hauling...

the regular housekeeping staff are the ones that empty ashtrays, garbage cans, etc.

The second one [sound clip posted on INW] is security traffic, you have 304 calling 5-0 Control, which is the surveillance/alarm center for the Casino. When one of the security guys takes a 'fill', which is a bunch of chips or cash or what-have-you-valuable-assets from one of the cages to a table, notice they always call 5-0? The surveillance people keep a camera on them all the way. They also call for openings and closings of secure doors, which is what this recording was of- unlocking the 'old enter door'.

The third one [sound clip posted on INW] was one of the parking security officers, Parking-9, calling an 'available roamer' to the southwest parking lot for something to do with a car. I notice they call their non-static officers 'roamers' as opposed to the more widely used 'rovers'.

I know I could shorten that first one down to 10 words or less, but 10 seems kinda long.

Is there a system that has something listed under "additional talkgroup category information"? I'll learn by example and submit info in a way that hopefully the DB admins can parse easily.


And what about radio ID numbers?

I would do something like this:

Housekeeping
Interior Security
Parking Area Security


As for radio ID's..... Do you mean like callsigns or Unit ID's? You can put those in the submission. The Admin can add them to the page specifically for them (see the tab).

Keep in mind that when it comes to alpha tags, whats has been asked of the Data Admins here and has been kicked around by the Data Admins is that the An alpha tag needs to basically stand on its own meaning that, say I live on the East side of Washington State and I want to come over to the West side of the State in the part of the state I live in I have something like housekeeping set up as a alpha tag say for the Yakama nation casino, well When I come over to the west side of the state there is the talkgroup that you are talking about Muckleshoot Casino should it also be housekeeping, the short answer is no that is why I entered "Muck House",for Yakama I would enter "Yak House" to distinguish the difference so the that when someone is not from the area that they can program there scanner with something that they might be able to understand when they are outside of there normal operating area. you can not just put in SPD that could be Seattle, shoreline,Snohomish,Spokane and the list just goes on, just in Washington State.
