external sound cards

currently have a p25 feed online and it seems I may be able to improve my feed quality if I switch to a external sound card rather than the internal sound card I am now using in my hp 750
been researching external sound cards and have not been able to draw any clear conclusion on which external sound card to go with . See that the price range is from $8 and up. the radio I am using to provide the feed is a unication G4. Read the description on a few sound cards that they improve speech... dont know if that is for real or just the hype to sell the card. so questions are has anyone any input whether I could improve my audio quality on my feed by switching sound cards or am I wasting my time and money in trying to do that.... and of course if yes.... which external card would be recommended on a windows systems
the bottom line here is since I am using a pretty good radio for the oasis p25 system in the milwaukee area, I would like to use the radio to its full potential on my feed

I can't give you any recommendations other than you will get what you pay for.

Replacing the onboard with an $8 card is unlikely to produce better sound, nor hardly worth the time to configure and evaluate.

Not knowing what I don't know, I would probably jump in with a $50 card and go from there.

Hopefully someone has chipset or model information that helps you find better sound.

I recently went with a cheaper external adapter (about 10 dollars), and am satisfied with the quality. Listen in a minute or two if you like.

I am also using a cheap external USB sound card with my raspberry pi feed and it works well. The sound quality is excellent IMO. Sound quality slightly decreases in my case due to distance from the different repeaters being used and not related to the sound card.

I tried one of the $7.50 Sabrent USB audio adapters on one of my feeds, and in my case it introduced a lot of noise. Never did figure out why, so it was replaced with a Behringer UCA-202 USB audio adapter. The Behringer adapter introduces absolutely no noise, but it does cost $30.

I did end up getting an external sound card. Creative sound play 3. Price on amazon has dropped to $18. Sound for me from the external sound card much clearer than the internal sound card. Thanks for the suggestions.
