Extreme newbie help needed

For scanning non-trunked analog frequencies I would highly recommend the Uniden BC95XLT; if you want to go with a handheld scanner. I think that this scanner operates more smoothly than the 92XLT and it can also be programmed by using a PC (but not by a Mac b/c there is no software). I use a BC95XLT in my scanning adventures and I am very pleased with it. I prefer the Uniden BC95XLT over any similar scanner at Radioshack. Just my two cents.... Good luck and have fun!

To 'hear it all', you'll need to cough up some dough.

I know EBAY gets a bad rap on here. But for a NEWBIE they have decent scanners for a good price. I bought a pro-93 and pro-91 from there. The manuels are downloadable from the web also.
