Once upon a time, there lived a brilliant and tech-savvy radio nut named Paul. With a keen interest in radio communication and a knack for coding, Paul had developed a reputation as a prodigy among the local community of radio enthusiasts, he was known to go to extreme lengths to located signals and track down new radio users.

One day, while browsing through an online forum dedicated to radio scanning, Paul stumbled upon a mysterious post. It mentioned a new radio frequency had been logged active, but who was using it and its location remained unknown to the public. After exchanging some messages with some other radio scanning enthusiasts, they managed to track down the rough location but still could not confirm who this new user was.

Intrigued by the cryptic message, Paul decided to investigate further. Being a skilled radio enthusiast and possessing an uncanny ability to decipher complex codes, Paul crafted a plan to employ stealth radio scanning to uncover the truth behind the new frequency.

Equipped with a case of portable scanners, modified antennas and some binoculars, Paul set out on a moonlit night, sneaking into the woods near the rumoured facility. With expertise in radio wave propagation, Paul carefully chose the best vantage point that offered optimal signal reception without arousing suspicion.

Using a custom-built software program, Paul started scanning various radio frequencies, listening attentively to the signals transmitted through the airwaves and logging everything he could find out. It was like exploring an invisible world, eavesdropping on conversations and data transmissions that were meant to be concealed from the public and which the user had taken steps to hide.

Hour after hour, Paul patiently sifted through countless frequencies, filtering out mundane chatter and irrelevant signals. Finally, a peculiar series of beeps and bursts caught Paul's attention—a signal that did not fit the pattern of ordinary communication.

As Paul focused on deciphering the strange signal, a sudden burst of static startled him. It was a voice—a stern and authoritative voice—warning about unauthorized access to a classified area. Paul's covert scanning had triggered an alarm within the facility.

Realizing the danger, Paul swiftly packed up their equipment and retreated out of his vantage point, back to his car which he had parked a good distance away. Meanwhile, a team of security personnel, scoured the area in search of the intruder.

But Paul was not ready to give up just yet. Back at his home, he analysed the data collected from the facility's radio signal and after piecing together various signals and notes, he was able to confirm both who the users of this new frequency were, document all their callsigns and develop a picture of how their radio system was used.

Word of Paul's remarkable feat spread throughout the radio community, earning them respect and admiration from fellow enthusiasts. His stealth radio scanning adventure became a legend, inspiring others to use their technical skills to uncover hidden truths.

And so, Paul's journey continued, with new mysteries to unravel, and the knowledge that sometimes, the most powerful discoveries lie hidden within the whispers of radio waves.

*** This is a true account of a recent "up close and personal" scanning session I undertook, with some editing to write it in the third person. It involved waiting for the right mix of signals and visual conformation of who was using this frequency ***

This thead caught my attention and took me way back to Oct 2020 in a thread started by you titled:
Are You Promoting our Hobby in the Best Possible Way...
where you said:

"Sadly here it is, I have been questioned, called a spy, accused of being a terrorist and all sorts of things..."

Glad they gave you a rabbit call before cutting the scour teams loose. Who knows what kind of Brillo they could use on your display & screens.

This sounds like a follow up to your thread a couple of years ago asking for some advice on capturing a particular frequency and how to be as clandestine as possible...
