• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Members of this forum,

Please kindly help me. I have a problem on programming my radio.
Model is Icom F4021. I have the cable and software installed, However i'm getting errors
like: "No answer from the receiver", Check cloning cable, make sure power is turned on.

Have any encountered this problem before?

What i'm planning to do is set the individual channel for each radio. I have 20 units to program.
Is there some sort of special keys to press before turning on the unit to access the option
wherein I can change the channel individually?

If any one can provide a programming manual, please kindly email me.

Thanks,

King_James

1. Plug in the programming cable to your computer. Then using >System Tools> Device Manager> COM ports, see which COM port the cable is using.

Now, plug in the cable to the radio, turn the radio on, and DONT press any buttons.

Open the software, and open the com port setting to see which com port the software is going to use.

Make sure the com port for the software is the same as what the cable is plugged into.

Now, use the software to read the radio. make the changes and write to the radio, done.

Steven,

Thank you for the quick reply. I have tried following the steps you mentioned here, unfortunately the radio wasn't detected still.

When connecting the com port, should it install and have a different icon in device manager?

Will the com port cable install itself or does it need a driver?

Is there a programming manual separately distributed by ICOM for
the F4021 model? I read the manual for the unit but programming
was not included there.

I really appreciate your time and help answering my queries.

Best regards,
