I'm using Mozilla Firefox ver. 3.6.13 for Ubuntu Version 1.0 and am NOT seeing the drop down bar.

However, and I already posted this in the Live Feed Admin forum, this morning I tried to 'like' my own feed here, and got an error message which says:

Code:
You failed to provide a valid list of administators. You need to supply
the administors using either a "fb:app_id" meta tag, or using a "fb:admins"
meta tag to specify a comma-delimited list of Facebook users.
Facebook ©2010

However, if I type a message in and click post, it actually does post to my facebook newsfeed and it shows up in the feed's page. It's just the 'like' button that is getting an error.
I get the same, Win7 Ultimate X64 using Chrome 8.0.552.237

The real blame should go to the malicious PoS that write viruses and malware.

Nope. The real blame belongs with the people who write the software that leaves the backdoor open for the people who write the malware and viruses.

Folks,

Facebook integration is extremely important to us. I can directly attribute tens of thousands of dollars of revenue that is a direct result of our existing Facebook integration.

It also introduces thousands of people that are friends of subscribers here that are automatically introduced to the hobby and RR because of their friend's participation on the site.

Facebook's social plugins are experiencing a few minor issues right now since they've been updated/upgraded... that should be fixed soon by them.

Also, in case of major Facebook problems, we can instantly turn off all facebook integration with the flick of a switch.

Thanks for your feedback.

Warm regards,

I've been here since 2002 and as a voice of one... I'm not happy with the direction RR is taking lately. It's all about the big bucks and cover your butt. And... as soon as a thread goes against something RR is doing... it gets closed like a hot potato. But... it's not for me to decide and I know the usual answer... "if I don't like it... the highway is over there". Going now to delete my thread notification subscriptions and log off. It's been fun... I'm headin' for the highway... :-(

Personally, I have been on FB for a while now, and I have no trouble. I like the fact I can keep in touch with friends and family across the U.S. on a daily basis, and many others in other Countries. This not on a daily basis, but pretty much an hourly or minute basis. Many of us use it as Lindsay has mentioned, to spread the word about things others may never know of in any other way. I use it to get people involved in the Relay For Life, Skywarn, and Ham Radio. I am in a Fraternal Organization, and use it to keep the general public as well as our members updated on events we are doing. But.... The main difference I see in my system and others, is that I still use XP, Google Chrome, and have Google's recommended Spyware Doctor running. A BASIC old system I guess :) By the way, I'm still looking for the FB "Like" or "Share" button. I'll find it shortly. Many don't seem to understand the cost of running anything. My Fraternal Group donates to causes, and to do so, we HAVE to have money. If folks don't want to dig into their pockets, WE have to have fundraisers. All are expected to contribute, either donate, or work. Here, it is basically the same, either become a Donor, or Work (accept the little frustrations as you refer to them). I tend to make people upset with my attitude, so be it..... It's mine and I love to share :)
Thanks Lindsay.

Philosophically I know where you are coming from, but it is the same old story about the old days being so good and perfect. There is nothing wrong with picking up your marbles and going home, but in this case if you do then sooner rather than later you will need something from here and pay the price of being mad at yourself.
I am doing the same thing with a newspaper subscription, back in the 90's it cost about $8 a month and for that you could even chew out the poor guy for not getting it on the porch. Now they have raised the price of a yearly subs. to $225; and that is the only way to get it, unless you go to 7-11 and pay $1 a copy. No stealing from the corner boxes, either--they are long gone and painted over by vandals. Of course, that is a direct result of craigslist, etc. Who wants to sit on the porch reading a kindle or beloved I-pad? Now I am trying to justify paying that much because of 2 things--Grocery coupons & the pleasure of reading a real paper while having the first coffee of the morning--but I am thinking when it runs out thats'it

I have often thought that if I would have had access to computers (Like we all have now) in 1960 when I started high school, I would have been a rocket scientist or something. I have always been good at turning out prolific amounts of pap, but the hatred I had (have) for putting the pap on paper is astounding.
The teachers' would bust your balls for erasing or typing over or white-out. How many times did I type a whole sheet only to screw it up near the bottom.?

If not for computers, etc. I never would have been able to survive my long career that required lots of pap output :p

So about all I can say is remember all of everyone's decisions are double-edged swords, so just pay your money, take your chances, and keep on truckin---

I'm still getting the yellow drop down bar, and also when using the various Wiki links from the top of the page, but when using the DB, no yellow bar. So when FB resolves their minor issues as Lindsay mentioned above, should that resolve the yellow bar some are experiencing here ?

I'm also seeing the yellow bar when viewing message threads.

Nope, if you OK the download, it will just open notepad with some code in it, and next time you visit the forum, the yellow bar will come back again.

Facebook is useless to me. I tried it and see nothing spectacular about it. It's great if you have nothing to do all day.

It's all about MORE money... always is... Sad...

Hate to see so many people hit the "Dislike" button on the face-book integration. Personally I have had a Good overall experience with both sites. Fb is a great resource for people to keep up with friends or family that you wouldnt see or have a chance to talk to on a regular basis. As a feed provider its been great for that too. Currently approaching 400 "Likes" on my feed. Its a great way to get word out in your local area that your feed exists and to keep your listeners current on things on your feed. As far as the earlier statement about liking or not the direction of RR......well I don't blame Lindsay for taking the route he is, I would probably do the same. Seen RR grow quite a bit in the last few years, if nothing else its been an interesting ride down this highway. Facebook has some bugs and some other issues but what site doesn't and when your running something that is growing fast, you have a plate full and things are changing on a daily basis. Hope you all give this a try and with an open mind.

A couple of other sites I frequent are also giving me the yellow bar. Both have Facebook buttons on their homepage. Prior to yesterday, I wasn't getting the bar on their sites until now.
