This. I'm sure the Stafford County Sheriff's Office could charge our "new car dealer/investigative photographer" whacker friend with something. Granted, I don't what Virginia's criminal code is like, but I'm sure there's something.

Frankly all P25 systems should have 100% voice traffic should be encrypted, because it would just discourage these whacked from attempting to even try to listen, encrypted control channel and LLA ensure they can't.

We don't need people with that attitude anywhere near public safety communications.

Why? No different than doing encrypted interop. Not difficult to do properly, just takes coordination, planning and a willingness to work together between agencies that will be using different systems on a day to day basis, or even a once a year mutual aid event.

Right here tells me you're probably just a mid-level engineer with little to no knowledge of how coordination, planning, and a willingness to work together actually works in the real world.

For all the blowhard about encryption that you seem to do around here, I think that the extent of your knowledge and experience around encryption is you've loaded a key into a radio and maybe even a piece of infrastructure.
