If I wanted to set my scanner to search between two freqs that encompass the Fed band, what would they be? I know it's like 160Mhz or something like that..

Federal agencies primarily operate in the 162-174 VHF range. As already mentioned, fed agencies (i.e. DEA, USPS law enforcement, etc.) also use a lot of UHF.

Also don't forget the UHF fed band. I mostly search 417-420 MHz but you could extend it from 413 or so.
