If it isn't clear, CTCSS is not compatible with DES (white noise) encryption, so there is no CTCSS tone on encrypted transmissions.

This, of course, is GOOD, for us, since it means you can use CTCSS to listen to the unencrypted stuff on a channel while not having to listen to more than short bits of DES noise.

I didn't think I mentioned a tone. The side I'm able to hear is 1/2 strength or higher.

Hearing P25 traffic on 169.8900MHz/169.8875MHz (not enough traffic to know for sure). Only hearing one side.

hearing more this afternoon. again, only one side. anyone else?

EDIT: just heard mention on "stop fuel at 10k" and "clearance for engine start". I think its an input for one of the other know freqs for Eastern WV Regional Airport/167th.

Copied some traffic on 163.0125 yesterday. Not much activity but it was in the clear. Have you guys heard this freq in the past?

I haven't caught that one yet; I'll put it in when I get home.

I think in a way we're in a bad spot because we get traffic from DC and its hard to tell if it local or not.

Propagation conditions appear to be very good tonight. I'm hearing the House cloak room with a message to Representatives about how many minutes are left to vote on H.R. 1311. It sounds like paging, but so far I have not heard any paging tones. I'm scanning so I just may be missing them at the beginning of the transmissions. I've never heard them on this frequency before.

Also hearing MRB very well tonight. The MRB transmitter evidently is located on base and not at their mountain top site as it is just not strong enough on a daily basis.

Edit: Just heard some kind of digital preamble at the beginning of a transmission. I don't recognize what it is by ear.

hearing more of these tonight.

169.8900MHz P25

169.8900MHz P25 is definitely 167th, Pikeside. I think it's an input freq or simplex freq. Copied traffic that there is training with their FD that was scheduled and a tour that was not. Also heard them mention a "loadmaster" which I know load the cargo on the planes.

catching some P25 traffic this morning in the clear. I think it might be Mt. Weather since I was getting in the clear P25 traffic on 173.8375MHz as well. could it be the input freq?

I can't hear 163.0125 on the east side of Rt. 601. I think it might be MRB or somewhere up in that direction.
