What site are you monitoring?

Also, when another post is dispatching the traffic should still show up on the home talkgroup as the OSP run them as patches. So Findlay traffic should still show on FINDLAY.

Let me see If I can Explain this from a un edumacated view point..LOL Or as I see it.. The state has set up dispatch centers across the state, many post do not have dispatchers anymore. Example Lima Post, it has a repeater for the Marcs System, as I understand it. but the Dispatcher is in Van Wert If The troopers are working in the Post 2 area I hear VanWert Dispatch answer them on the Marcs Tag Post O2, the troops call to VanWert but it lights up Marcs Tg for Post 2. If they are over in Putnam County, it depends on where they are but I sometimes hear them call Vanwert and Findlay Tg is used, or if they are in Western Putnam the VanWert Tg will Light up.

The Other day I listened to a trooper that was headed to GHQ (COLUMBUS) all the way from Findlay to Columbus as he was being handed off from Dispatch center to dispatch center its pretty cool how it works. On range qualification day you can hear Troopers from all over the place headed to their designated range being handed off. Also during Pursuits on I 75 you can hear from Hamilton Post to where ever it ends. The system is very cool. Did I get that about right Mike? In simple terms?? LOL

I could be wrong or could be having a brain fart, but I don't think that is correct. I think, for example, that if a dispatcher is dispatching for both P84 and P07, then the traffic is going to show up on your scanner on the P84 talkgroup or the P07 talkgroup, depending on which one is being patched to which. So, in my area I always make sure i have Post 7, Post 41, and Post 84 talkgroups programmed in so that I'm sure I hear Post 41 even if they are patched to the Post 7 talkgroup (in which case they show up on my scanner on the Post 7 talkgroup and not the Post 41 talkgroup).

So my advice would be to include the talkgroups for all the posts that are served by the dispatch center that serves the post you want to hear? Confusing? You bet.

I think its a little of both of our replies..based on listening the other day on Range day, Time and time again I'd hear (Example) 965 to whatever lets say Hamilton, he would show up on Piqua TG and I would hear Hamilton answer on Piqua TG. As he went back I'd hear Piqua, then he asked to be handed off to Dayton, that post tg would light up as he asked to be handed off to the next dispatch center. It was very cool to watch and listen to. I suspect if you were locked into the Home Post TG you might hear the traffic but it didn't seem to work that way as I was listening the other day.

However it works its neat!!

Agreed. I always find MARCS to be a fascinating system to monitor and learn about. It's a very effective communications system from all that i hear. I imagine Indians and Michigan state systems probably function equally well.

I like the fact that MARCS has chosen to expand their base of users beyond what they were originally taking on....working out "deals" to get whole counties online, etc.

Too bad that the decisionmakers one state away in PA haven't learned anything from MARCS on how to have a viable radio network.

If you are using Findlays tower then I think that may be your problem. I have yet to get the OSP off that tower.

I actually am hearing them on the frequencies out of Wyandot County. Here is the frequencies that I am getting hits on from the OSP.

866.31250
866.62500
866.90000
867.18750

Last night I got a lot of hits about a semi driving from Beaverdam to Bluffton Ohio with fuel leaking all over the roadway.

Today I have some hits from them.

Let me know if this helps.

I have updated my location. I was not aware you could do that. The Marcs system is very neat. I hear all day long Putnam Couty, Allen County, Hancock County and Findlay Police, OSP, MedCorp, Hanco and all county Fire.

You're hearing Findlay PD on MARCS? Are you sure about that and if so what TG?

That's right as currently OSP is not on the Findlay site. Take note that there are currently only 2 voice channels available on that site. Not until Findlay turns their Frequencies over, and probably not until they're ready to switch themselves.

Edited to add:

Sites in Wyandot, and Putnam County (Contentential and Deshler) cover Findlay area OSP.

I have from Time to Time Seen Findlay Light Up when Post 2 units are up to the North East of Putnam, but its Van Wert Dispatch they are calling. I believe Findlay like the other post Acts as a relay for Marcs units depending on where they are. I've Heard Post 2 units over in Western Putnam and Western Allen County and Post 81 TG lights up. If they are Down Near the Lima Area Post 02 Tg lights up all DISPATCHED by VanWert (81) . Before you ask I've heard the Same Trooper in all three of those areas and KNOW he works at Lima. I've talked with a few people about the states system and they say it follows a troop logged in no matter where he goes.

I hear troops asking to have their CAD transferred from one post to the other as they go to Columbus for training or whatever and you can hear that troop sign off in (GHQ) which is Columbus. Its pretty neat.

I don't as a rule hear Columbus Post Troopers or Hamilton County Troopers but if someone from an area up close to me goes into those areas I hear them for a while then they disappear again. Hope this kinda helps those wondering how it works.

OSP has went to regional dispatching and it changed the way a lot of stuff works.

So I was just going through the weekend logs and noticed that I don't have any hits at all for P32... Seems a bit strange to me.
