Question while in madisonville TN I have been hearing their fire department using 154.295 a statewide fire intersystem channel for unit to unit traffic do they have to notify the state that they are planning on using that frequency or what.

RE mutual aid freqs

This appears to be more common practice. Bradley County uses fire mutual aid, 154.280, to tone out fire-rescue, and has for years. Don't know how they got away with using a primary mutual aid channel for dispatch, but I assume no one has complained or requested them to move to one of their repeaters.

Thanks

I wander since they are used usely for mutial aid if any fire department in the state can transmitt on those channels then without notifying the state or the fcc if not then the county needs to use them more often due to overflow of radio traffic especialy when more than one department has been paged out at the same time and use tac-a for onscene comms and get walked on by others on the repeaters.
