Does anyone have information about the alpha paging system used by the fire departments in the area?

Is a list of cap codes published?

I'm looking for "everyones" cap codes. When Norcom was first starting up I was reading through a PDF that described the regional alpha paging system. I have the frequency around here somewhere. I've heard data blasts on that frequency that seem to correlate time-wise with Norcom dispatching a rig.

I've tried using PDW to decode the data to no avail. Since I have a pager programming rig I was going to simply program a pager or few to cap codes of rigs I'm interested in monitoring.

There seems to be a pocsag 1200 baud signal on 152.0062 which decodes to fire and aid related messages. PDW seems to be decoding most of the messages.

Basically the unique address code for digital pagers.

Thanks.
I read it is illegal to decode paging signals - unless you have permission, I believe.
I don't see any problem with Fire Dept. pagers since it's public info., but I suppose it's still illegal, technically.

I'm not sure about Fire Pagers... probably open and ok because the Uniden Scanners do it plus decoding.

Commercial pagers is a no-no, Universal Radio used to sell unit that could decode that traffic, and you can find them on eBay of the Internet.

But most of it just not that interesting, everybody that I know that has a pager it's either phone numbers or pick up milk, most of it has been supplanted by cell phone text messaging.

And the paging market has really shrunk, very few companies left as they all merged.

Uniden scanners do only fire tone-out tones. Those are alerting tones, not paging. There is no message involved, except there may be an announcement after the tones.

The ECPA clarified privacy protection related to the use of radio paging devices. The Department of Justice defined voice and digital display pagers as "a continuation of an original wire communication" that should therefore be subject to Title III protection. The legislation also specifically identified the "tone-only" pager as a device whose use is not protected under Title III.
