BCD325P2/BCD996P2: Firmware Update Time Out

Trying to do a firmware update on a Windows 10 PC with the Uniden BC_VUP3 software. The PC has a serial card and the scanner is connected via a serial cable. The scanner works fine on ProScan with the serial connection. Running BC_VUP3 is able to auto-detect COM3, but then I get a timeout error during the update:



Any ideas how to troubleshoot this? Thanks.

It's unclear if you are trying to update the 325P2 or the 996P2, but your mention of a serial connection would indicate that you're attempting to use the rear serial port to update a 996P2. If that's the case, that would be the problem.... While a serial connection to the rear serial port on the 996P2 will allow programming, only the front Mini USB port can be used for firmware updates.

It's for a BCD996P2. Does anyone know where to download this "virtual serial driver" ?

You need to use the front port with Uniden's USB-1 cable for firmware updates. You cannot do them through the rear port.

The Uniden USB-1 cable is not compatible with the BCD996P2.
