Around two years ago, there was a document on the MPSCS Web site here in Michigan, which talked about all of the neighboring states going to ASTRO 25 trunking systems. In that document, it talked about the Bell Fleetnet TRS being upgraded to full P25 standards. They mentioned that Ontario radios will be able to use the MPSCS along the boarder, and when passing through the state. Likewise, MPSCS radios will be able to do the same while near or in Ontario. This mostly talked about all state/provincial government agencies, and those counties along the border. From what I gathered, they would even have interop/roaming talkgroups on each other's systems.

Live training for agencies have started in Zone 4 area for the new system.
So you are saying there is a new version of Fleetnet already on the air? I've been told that RFPs have just recently started to be sent to vendors so this seems really unlikely....

Looks to me like they're getting new *radios*, not an actual new radio *system*. The slide on the projection screen in the background, and the info displayed on the radio head, all looks like standard Fleetnet stuff.
Most paramedics wouldn't really understand (or care about) the subtle difference, nor should they be expected to.

Interesting that the portables are 800MHz though.
A quick scan of the spectrum would reveal a new system very quickly. I'd imagine to make it easier for users, the programming would be basically identical to what it currently is (save for some different channel names I'm sure).

Also, pretty interesting how the last area to get Fleetnet (and thus in theory the newest gear) is also the first to get the new gear too! Figured they would have started down in Zone 1 first.
One of the posts mention new radios, nothing about a new system.
