FleetNet Frequency questions

A couple of questions on FleetNet frequencies:

1. Are all of the current FleetNet frequencies between 141.015 MHz and 143.985 MHz, or have they started incorporating old MOH or MTO frequencies?

2. On the Zone 2 System page, it says:
Base: 141.0150
Offset: 15.0
Spacing: 380

Does "Offset" mean that the frequencies (channels) are 15KHz apart (they all seem to be based on 141.015 +.015 +.015 etc. etc.). If so, what does the "Spacing" refer to?

3. Where did the info on which channels are associated to which towers come from? Oddities such as the Ottawa tower only having 2 channels makes me wonder if the list here is based on an original plan from BMR. With more and more voice channels being added (or so the rumour goes), where do the updates come from?

4. I think I've come across a new (second) voice channel for the Deep River tower. I picked up some FleetNet traffic on 142.695. I was between the Deep River and Bissett Creek towers at the time, and can't be sure which tower I was picking up. My money is the Deep River tower, as one channel for that area doesn't seem enough. Is there a way for me to check this out and confirm it?

Thanks.

The only way that I know is to do a cc search but of course you have to be within range of the tower at the time

Are you able to run the trunker program at all. Using that will give you loads of information.

In a word, no.

I take it that means either, a) I'm SOL, or b) I'll have to look for stuff the old fashioned way.

Avro,

The frequencies in use so far are in "range 1" more or less what you've
stated; not sure the exact upper limit. They cannot use the MTO pairs as-
is because their inputs in the 148 range which does not work with the
GMCP channel plan. It is only a matter of time before something above
148 gets used (range 2 and/or range 3).

Spacing and offset in the database conform to the warped BC245
notation. In reality spacing or step size is 15kHz, offset is 380 (the
channel number corresponding to the base frequency).

People who run Trunker, Treport, or DEMO88 software get
accurate site channel lists although not all areas are updated (look
at poor Gatehouse) equally. Guessing often leads to errors; you
might be in a high spot and hear something that seems close but
is actually another site.

I passed through Pembroke two weeks ago with my mobile setup
running Treport. I could log Pembroke and Deep River and confirm
that 142.695 belongs to the latter, and Bisset Creek in the database
is incorrect. Good observation in spite of what I just said above.
Unfortunately, I didn't go any further west, so Bisset Creek is
down to zero voice channels (not really of course).

Not all sites necessarily have three voice channels active currently
in Zone 2. Keep in mind that the alternate CC can be used as a voice
channel, as long as the primary CC has not failed. I have seen this on
the Ottawa site (ELGIN). BTW Ottawa does have (at least) three
voice channels, they have not all been activated yet; same may apply
to some other sites.

TTFN (thats's that, for now), Dave

Sorry, folks, been a long day (but a good one) although not as
LONG as the last two weeks.

Bisset Creek VC is 142.965, not 142.695. That one is probably good.

Thanks for the help, guys.

So, now that we know that 142.695 is VC2 for Deep River, how does this get added to the list?
