SDS100/SDS200: Flickering display SDS200

My display flickers. I’d like to send a video clip but haven’t figured out how to do that or even if this forum’s format allows… hoping someone can advise if it’s possible to send a clip.

The flickering seems to remain at the same rate and occurs in all of the different display options. The flickering does not seem to get progressively noticeable, it will flicker at the same rate from when I turn the SDS200 on and continue as long as the radio is left on. Long periods of non-use, power off, does not correct the problem.

The scanner itself is one of the first distributed… I pre-ordered it (if memory serves, Scanner Master) and waited for it to become available. The scanner performs as advertised other than the flickering.

Just curious, Are you using the supplied wall wart, or a Switching Power Supply ?

I see I posted the same issue back in 2020. I wasn’t sure I did and posted again. So far, no one seems to have suffered the same flickering problem. I guess it’s time to send it in for repair. Thanks for the help.

My SDS200 #1 does that from time to time. Just when I say I am going to send it in it stops.

I seem to remember posts that the display flickers only at maximum brightness. Try reducing the brightness.

I wonder if the flickering, would have anything to do with the supplied wall wart, rather than the SDS 200 itself ? Has anyone bothered to test their power supply ? I power mine using a Alinco DM-330mv with no Flickering since 2019.

No I think it is related to the ribbon cable or display driver. Mine is running at 50% and brightness levels have no effect it still does it when it decides to do it. Running on a 12-volt battery has no effect it still does this when it decides to do it.

No. At least not with mine. The flickering is not affected by the dimmer setting.

Mine has never done it since 2019 yet, anyway! I think I would check the ribbon cables though as my first suspect. When I did the Static Discharge mod in 2019 I made sure ribbon cables were reseated well.
