Flight for Life open house Saturday September 6th 2008

All members Flight for life is having there open house out at the new Waukesha base from noon to 2pm today it's easy to get to from I-94 get off on Hwy. J and and go south towards waukesha and go all the way to northview road turn right and head west towards the county fair grounds before you get to the fairgrounds there will be a road called Aviation Dr. turn right and head north and follow the road all the way back to the last hanger and that is Flight For Life's hanger.

Flight for life dispatch

I went to the open house and they do have a dispatch center but didn't take a look in there. I saw the helicopter, it's got the usual aviation radio's and the radio for making contact with ground but saw no other radio's. I know all the crew members were wearing there distinct blue jump suits with pagers and Nextel phones on there belt. I believe unfortunately all communications via the helicopter and flight for life base are via Nextel phones. I will try in the next few weeks sitting out by the airport with my BCD396T on close call mode to see if it picks up anything.

I am still hearing them on the flight following frequency of 129.475 and UHF Med 7 when transporting to the Trauma Center at Froedert.
