I can do the FMPA using tcp over the lan but I want to see if I can do it over internet.
What do i put where 192.168.1.5 is? I am completely lost on this stuff, I know it will
have a delay probably and problems just want to try, bored actually. I use NoMachine
when I want to remote in.

how are you setting up using "tcp" on your Lan?

by using TCP linking and giving the DSD+ instance a IP+TCP port to look for. As long as firewalls don't block the connections, it's trivial.

As for the OP, if you were to instantiate a VPN connection from another site - the programs won't care. As long as both computers have access to the VPN / proper routing, you're good to go. Latency will be an issue, but it will work.

running this as a bat file on the remote computer:
DSDPlus -iT192.168.1.5:20001 -fr -o2 -O NUL

running this as a bat file on the computer with the radio connected:
fmpa -oT20001 -f154.37 -b9.5 -L10 -M10 -V10

192.168.1.5 is the ip of the computer with the radio connected. I don't know what to put here for over
the internet to work however.

Thats too technical for me, I need the info to put into the program word for word, sorry.

if the ports were exposed by the firewalls at each end (usually on the router for the internet connections - in the form of port forwarding), you would have to put the remote computers WAN IP where you are putting the LAN (192.168.1.5) in your commands...and it should work.

This would be exposing the port, on that computer, to the internet without any real protection. I view this as a 'Bad Thing'. I would recommend a VPN between the two sites which allows them to be virtually connected in a much safer manner than just opening up port 20001 on your modem and seeing what happens.

a417 I put the WAN IP in the bat file and it did not work, I assume that I will have to open port 20001
somehow. Still looking into that, getting a headache, probably wait til tommorow. About the VPN, I ain't
smart enough to do that, I looked into it a few months back. Like I said just doing this for fun.
About exposing the ports, I was thinking that the programers of DSDPlus would know the results of this and
would not let us do anything harmful, just a thought.

Hey dave3825 port 20001 is closed to my WAN IP, now I just got to figure out how to open it. Thanks.

If your doing this thru the internet and not thru a local area network, I believe you might need to put an outside ip in there somewhere. Hopefully someone who has done this can chime in with further directions.

Hey Dave, you done good, I opened port 20500, router said 20001 had a conflict (?), and it worked with
my WAN IP stuck in the bat file. Yes the lan ip (192.168.1.5) did not have to have the port open. Hope you
kept your feet warm last week!

vince48, yes to the audio, I have not looked at the logs on the remote computer. But since it is running on the
remote I assume that the logs will be there. I got the remote running over the internet but like I said above I
had to open a port on my router and there are concerns about the security about that. I have a couple of good
computers doing this, don't know what computer speeds are needed.

What are you using to hear the audio, DSD+?

In entry 5 above the batch file for DSDPlus entry "-o2" specifies where the audio goes. I had to
change it to "-o1" because I tested it on my desktop and I was using headphones but my laptop needs "-o1" for speakers.
When you run DSDPlus it lists the audio output options at the start.

Instead of messing with ports, just use ZeroTier.
