For those in the FC area,.. If you have time please pay specail attention to the FC TRS, speciffically the USM Police TG's and help me verify usage,.. I have updated the info as given to me by a friend of mine on the USM Police Force. Any confirmation would be appreciated as to if the old USMPD's TG's being abandoned and movement to the new TG's.

As of last Thurdsay's football game, they have not been changed.
There are two seperate sets of talk groups, one for Law enforcement (USM Police) and one set for Security (checking to see if buildings are locked and parking violations)

6416 - USM Police Dispatch
6448 - USM Police Ch. B
6480 - USM Police Ch. C
USM Police Call signs start with "L"

11280 - USM Security Dispatch
11312 - USM Security Ch. B
11216- USM Traffic Control & Security
USM Security Call signs start with "S"

I will keep a close check to make sure they haven't been changeed.

Also, the Forrest General Hospital Police have been deleted off the Forrest county page.
They use 855.9875

Fixed! :)

The same freq is liscensed for not only conventional usage by Forrest County in general, but also for the FCEMD. :)

Also is the FCEMD TRS used any more or have all coms now completely been switched to the FCPS TRS? I know when it all started there was only the Hattiesburg TRS, and then the FCEMD TRS was built out,.. now there is a Forrest County Public Safety TRS, which I assume has absorbed all comms,... but the EMD TRS is still licensed,... So if anyone knows if its been totally abandoned let me know.

Good Question.
The Forrest County PS TRS ,which absorbed the Hattiesburg TRS, is still using the same frequencies it always has, including most of the old Hattiesburg TRS Frequencies.
THe Forrest County EMD does have frequencies licensed for a TRS and according to the October issue of "Scanning USA" has just renewed the TRS license. But I have not heard these frequencies operation as a TRS. Some of the frequencies I have heard Data signals and the other frequencies are in use at the Forrest County PS TRS south tower in Brooklyn. I did noticed last year that these frequencies license location is at the Forrest General Hospital, which has a tall tower on top of the hospital. I have been wondering if this maybe some type of backup system for the Forrest County PS TRS.

OK according to a phone call I had just a few ago with some friends,.. the EMD will be emplementing thier TRS in the next year or so,.. It will be interesting to watch it come online.. there will be patches to the FC TRS, and of course to the surrounding counties. From the comments made, the Air Ambulance District, and most EOC ops, including Fire will be on it. FCSO, HPD, PPD, and USMPD will all still be on the FC TRS. So that gives us in MS possibly 4 NEW TRS to watch over the next year or so.

FC EMD, Meridian, Simpson County E-911, and the Columbus area one.

The only issue I see is the one that is being used by FGH Security, but I forsee that getting switched to a linking freq for the EMD on the TRS for usage as a Hospital Coordination for Disasters etc,...

Any issues will be addressed during the Emplementation Phase, and the FCC would not give a license for anything that would truly interfere with each other. As the freqs are co liscensed to both Forrest County, and the EMD-a Forrest County Agency- there is a plan there......

It will be interesting to watch how it is set up when they do bring it all together....

The only things I could find out for sure is that its gonna be a Motorola Type II, that it will begin build up and emplementation in 2005, and that it will be the main backbone for Emergency Management Communications, and interopability with all Emergency Management, Civil Defense, and Emergency Medical Services.

Who knows LOL, government entities are kind of wierd... they may end up just outbuilding it as new sites for the FC TRS,.. origianlly the FC TRS was EMD, and City of Hattiesburg, then they merged it into one system... this might be the same thing using the old liscenses to outbuild?...

Then again they may be redesigning the system in hopes of eventually going digital???

BTW... would you know if officially the FGH is run by the EMD???? If so that would explain the FGH PD using that freq.

Wastful second TRS?

It seems very odd to me that a metro the size of Hattiesburg
can somehow justify the implementation of two separate trunked
radio systems, when the one they currently have, by casual observation
is nowhere near overstressed.

Comments?

Forrest General Hospital (formally called Forrest County General Hospital) is owned and operated by Forrest County. Hattiesburg/Forrest County EMD is not in charge of the hospital, but does seem to be involed in the licensing
of county radios.

I think EMD is the Big Daddy that runs the entire County's Comunications Department,.. that would explain why all the new stuff and renewals are done through them.

The County's TRS is not really stressed, but might just be getting upgraded/overhauled to modify it. The Old VHF/UHF stuff seems to be kept as a backup, and I have a feeling that the agencies using VHF/UHF that are not on the TRS will be soon, like FGH PD,.. FGH Admin,...
I can even see AAA getting more TG's and eventually abandoning thier VHF for primary ops...., except of course the MED Control stuff , possible the Primary ops of the Air Ambulance system will integrate also....

If they do what it looks like they might,.. You will see everything having primary ops on the TRS and VHF/UHF being backup.

I think they are really trying to get as organized as Rankin County, etc.....

I think that the Forrest County, and Rankin County systems would be a good pair to use as an say flagship to build on a statewide system if they went 800......... If Warren will make the switch from VSELP to say an ASTRO format, then youd have a huge Motorola 800 platform to go on....

Jones County, Forrest County, Warren, Rankin, Hinds, Washington,.... and if Jackson is smart,.. when they go digital, they will upgrade to a Motorola system

AAA and 800 antennas

I've been noticing a number of AAA units in Hattiesburg
with 800mhz antennas on their roof. But I don't generally
hear them on the TRS yet.
