Hey all,
I'm looking for some frequencies used during the FLL air and sea show. I have the Freq's for the BA's already. I was mainly looking for any show boss freq's and any other good coordination freq's. I did a google search and I believe someone posted a zip file with some info on this board but I was unable to open it. Thanks in advance for the help

Your very welcome, thats what we are here for. This was my first experience listening to the Blue Angels via my Pro-97. I was quite excited to have been able to listen to them. Nothing quite like listening to the Blue Angels except maybe a good long pursuit listening to PD..

Some traffic is on regular ATC for Ft. Lauderdale (kfll) and Opa Locka (kopf). See airnav.com. Also AIR BOSS is on 132.9 Austin

I too will be listening at this years Air & Sea show. Finto, you mentioned you already have the Blue Angels frequencies? Do we expect them to use the same as in some previous airshows listings I have seen online? Do you know specifically for this year, down here? I'd love to get a list if so. I just checked out the Monitoring Times link by gus426 - so I guess thats a good start for me. Thanks gus426!

Anyway, I'd be really thankful to get at least a handful of frequencies that are likely to work for this year - show boss included. I'll keep my eye on this forum and let you all know if I come across anything that isn't here already.

Enjoy the show!

I have never gone wrong in the past with the BA Frequencies that I've gotten from MT. They match up almost exactly to the ones listed here

http://www.milaircomms.com/blue_angels_frequencies.html

If you scan these you should be all set with hearing the Boss talking the diamond through the maneuvers. Also the 2 solos talking to eachother and to the diamond.
Good luck and have a great time at the air and sea show!

Yesterday( May 4) I went to Opa-Locka airport (kopf) to see the Press preview of the show. This was a pleasant surprise seeing the Air Force F-22's, the Blue Angels, and Coast Guard aircraft. Even without the show Opa-Locka is worth avist. It's a Coast Guard base, museum of old propliners, still flying. It's also a storage yard, junkyard, and maintainance base. I know this is not really radio stuff, but you would not be here, if you were not "plane nuts". Austin

Austin,

Thanks for the tip. I've never been to Opa Locka airport. I may need to check it out, if not this weekend, perhaps another time this summer.

BTW, listening to all the morons out on the water over the marine channels can be somewhat entertaining as well. Enjoy the weekend!

Visiting OPF

Michael, If you go I feel the best spot is off 37th ave. southbound from the Palmetto (826), past the junkyard, and in the entrance. There you can see the flying relics, and those less fortunate ones being broken up. Enjoy, Best wishes, Austin

If I had internet access while I was down there I could have posted these frequencies for you. Here is my list of frequencies from the Air and Sea Show. All frequencies were
picked off with my NEW Pro 97 SIGNAL STALKER II and a Maldol AL 500-H UHF/VHF Air
band antenna from Mike's Electronics. I attended all day Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday. Sat right next to the Lifeguards at Sunrise and A1A all 4 days.

Blue Angels
163.000 FM Ground
142.6125 FM COM CART A
139.8125 FM COM CART B
284.250 AM SHOW CENTER (BEHIND CROWD ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY??)
275.350 AM BEHIND CROWD (SOLOS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY??)
237.800 AM SOLOS (SHOW CENTER ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY??)
305.500 AM FAT ALBERT

Snowbirds
116.000 AM
272.100 AM

303.150 AM MACOS FLYOVER
132.900 AM AIR BOSS VHF
345.800 AM AIR BOSS UHF
122.875 AM AIR BOSS DISCREET (AEROBATIC PERFORMERS)
255.500 AM ARMY PARA RESCUE DEMO
384.550 AM VIPER UHF/HERITAGE
136.675 AM VIPER VHF DISCREET/HERITAGE
376.025 AM F15 DEMO
363.300 AM MARINES INVASION DEMO
362.700 AM MARINES INVASION DEMO
303.000 AM A-10 AIR TO AIR/DEMO (FRIDAY/SATURDAY)
139.000 AM A-10 AIR TO AIR/DEMO (SUNDAY)
238.900 AM F-22 RAPTORS
290.225 AM F-22 RAPTORS/B2B

Did anyone catch any of the Golden Knight Frequencies?? I couldn't catch them
on any of their previously used frequencies and SIGNAL STALKER II didn't find anything
new. I just heard them on BOSS Victor. The SIGNAL STALKER II picked up all of
the above frequencies with ease. The stock antenna is a piece of crap. I bought
the Maldol 500 because it exhibits + gain in the UHF air band and is excellent on
VHF Air band as well. I compared the Pro 97 to the ICOM IC-R10 and the Pro 97 came
out on top. It pulled in the VHF and UHF signals a bit clearer and has MUCH better audio and louder as well. Sorry I couldn't get these to you sooner.

Thanks very much Mike. I am looking forward to a couple of airshows in my area later this summer and also have a 97 to try out. As for the Golden Knights, did you search low band and also uhf freq's between 461.0 and 468.0? I have some of their freq's as 45.35, 32.2 and 32.3. Also they have been heard on some of the frs freq's in the 462 and 467mhz range. They also are listed as using several freq's in the 122 to 124 range.

Enjoy the airshows!! I love em! I have a whole list of frequencies I usually hear the Golden Knights on. I didn't hear a peep out of any of them. I heard them call JUMPERS AWAY right on the AIRBOSS frequency.

Mike, could you give an estimation of how far away from the signal sources you were. I am going to take my Pro-97 to Tullahoma. I guess it has no problems pulling the signal in from a/c in the air. Thanks.

I was able to pick up planes behind the crowd about a mile. I was also able to pick up AIR BOSS which was at least 1/4 a mile away. At other times I picked up regular commercial air traffic as well. I had no problem with any of the planes that were at show center. Security was scattered all aroound and I was getting them with ease as well. There were also people in the VIP area (caterers etc..) I was able to pick up. I couldn't see them but I could hear them. I'm tellin ya, it performed VERY WELL!! I wasn't expecting the performance I got out of it. When ya get back let us know how you found the performance of SSII.

I took mine to my local airport for a test run. I picked up some of the stronger transmissions with mine, yet others were not detected by sig. stalker. It didn't detect the ground control or tower freq.'s when the controller was transmitting, but it did get them when an aircraft transmission took place. The signal has to be fairly strong. I was sitting inside my car using a watson 901 antenna. (supposedly cut for vhf and uhf air). I think I might try one of those Maldol antennas. They seem to be getting good reviews.

I guess I forgot to mention I was using a Maldol AL-500H VHF/UHF air antenna. It has +gain on UHF and is noticeably better on VHF air. That might have been why I was picking up everything. It hit on AIR BOSS (132.900) several times when the BOSS was talking, not the plane. Of course it picked up every plane within several miles. It also picked up all the security and caterers and everything else in the area. The Maldol is supposed to be MUCH better than the Watson, although I can't personally comment because I have never used the Watson antenna. I have compared the Maldol to some telescopic antennas I have and it did perform better. The cost is hefty at around $50, but if you are an aircraft enthusiast I highly recommend the better antenna. The stock antenna isn't the greatest. I never thought of testing the SSII at the airshow with the stock antenna. I'll have to try that next time around. I'll also test the Radio Shack telescopic antenna. Good luck y'all. Hope you enjoy the Pro 97 as much as I am. It was a hit at the Ft. Lauderdale Air and Sea Show!!

I used Signal Stalker on my 97 last winter and was probably at least 150 yards from 5 F-15's and picked up their chit chat with no prob. Even had two rows of T-hangars in between. I was using a Diamond RH-77CA then but i do use the Maldol now. My only beef with it is it seems to flimsy for carrying around all day on my hip. But i definitely will prob use it or at least the Diamond. Thanks for the info.
