Every time I get an email from forum-notify@radioreference.com and click on it to take me there, after I read it I go into the web site and click on the view new posts button and what happens all the time is it says there are no new posts, this only happens if I read the email from forum-notify@radioreference.com first before I click on the view new posts button.

Yeah, that's the way it has been for as long as I can remember. I avoid clicking on the e-mail links and just go straight to the "view new posts" link on the site.

Well I will tell you how I do it.

First I look at all the ones sent via email.

Then when I get to the end of that I just go to the Forum Index (using that same browser window I have been using, don't change windows). Then all I do is reveiw the forums that are highlighted as having new messages. I never, ever use the "new post" search. I also don't miss new posts.

Also... never log out before having read all the new messages. Even if your just logging in to check the database for something. I've discovered that if you log out with unread new messages, they're no longer new when you log back in. The only messages ever flagged as new are those new since the last time you logged in.

I think this is the source of most people's confusion. I was mine anyway. I assumed New messages would be unread messages as it is with 99% of the other systems I've been on.

So I take it from the posts that this is not a bug in the system, this is the way the web site works, Ok if this is the way the site works then I'll have to change the way I do things from now on.

Just to add another point of information. As long as you keep the original browser window open, you don't lose that "new" posts highlighting. For example, if you want to go to the database to check something, right-click the RR Database link at the top of the page and open it in "new" window, this will keep you from losing your "place" so to speak.
