Almost out but Air 34 is being used for tanker and helicopter water drops.. 167.175 103.5Hz. It's on the east side of Pierce Ferry, just up the hill from Stocton Hill Rd/Chevron.

Interagency Dispatch Centers, under Arizona Federal in the DB if anyone's interested in loading it up, activity has dropped but here's the info if interested. They're coming out of Prescott for fires up here, same thing for the Stocton Hill Fire the other day.... were from Prescott.

It's never a good sign when they're circling above you, it's usually either a fire or the feds and neither one makes for a good day.

Prescott Interagency Dispatch Center covers most of the western part of Arizona, except for the Arizona Strip BLM District. The 3 field offices (Kingman, Lake Havasu and Yuma) listed are all part of the BLM's Colorado River District. Prescott has a fair sized aviation component located there.

Just for additional information, the BLM's Arizona Strip District is dispatched out of Cedar City and is called the "Color Country Interagency Dispatch Center." Logistically the Strip is closer to resources stationed in southern Utah than it is to any in Arizona. I used to work on the Kaibab National Forest and it was quite a trip to get to our North Kaibab Ranger District, which required a trip almost up to Glen Canyon Dam to cross the Colorado River, then across the flats until you climbed up the side of the plateau to the forests above. Dispatch was out of Williams and the Ranger District Office was in Kanab. It was quicker to get an engine from the Dixie or the Color Country and Kanab BLM Districts than from our southern ranger districts. Non the less we sent engines from Williams on big fires quite frequently. Interagency mutual aid in the 70's was not very strong and well developed as it is now.

I can say with experience that when you have an acre of fire getting shoved on by downdrafts from a thunderstorm, you are alone for the first hour on the fire with a Type 6 engine (200 gallons of water), hand tools, most of the fire crowning, having an aircraft arrive and circling is very comforting. There is nothing like 3,000 gallons of retardant to make for an excellent day.
