Two questions. Is it necessary to put the repeater imput frequency into the scanner. (473.4000)? Also Franklin Lakes FD/EMS And DPW Dispatch 158.9400 IF I have it in as 131.8 will it still pick them up?

The input frequency and PL Tone is what the repeater listens for prior to "rebroadcasting" the signal at a higher wattage on the output frequency.

If what you are listening to is in the immediate area to you, you might be able to listen on the input, but it is not necessary if you are just listening.

Most of your questions can probably be answered by going to www.bergenscanner.com, Justin has pretty much everything you need there. I know because I have given him some of his info. You are probably talking about the Bergen County PD Countywide Alert Frequency which is primarily used by the Sheriff's Department 477.1875 156.7 .

Given the costs to go APCO, I'm not surprized Franklin Lakes is among the first! Wayne is making noises about "going digital" as well.

Off the topic (Please forgive...): Anyone know the DCS or CTCSS for Cedar Crest Village in Riverdale/Peaquonnock, NJ ? Their prime Frequencies are 452.25 (+5 MHz for Talk In), 461.25 (+5), and 464.40 (+5). 461.25 is their primary Security/EMS channel.

Bill Franklin Lakes FD is not digital nor is planning to go digital. They do however have Motorola XTL2500's installed in the trucks to monitor the PD in addition to their VHF-Hi Radios. They are still on 154.2500S 123.0
Their plans from what has been stated, is that they will take the old PD freq. 159.0900 and use it in the near future as a repeater input to 154.2500S 123.0

Out of curiosity what was the old PD F2 frequency??? I have not heard references to an F-2 on the APCO-25 freq 470.4000.

Here you go Paul...put the scanner in PL search mode and came up with these PL's:

461.2500 with a PL of 233.6
452.2500 with a DPL of 134
464.4000 with a PL of 97.4

Hope this helps!

The old ch 2 for the pd was 158.79000
Ah ok. That was Wyckoff PD's old Channel 4, car-to-car frequency. They also used it briefly as Channel 6 when they switched to 158.7825, but they got too much bleed-over from 158.7825 and interference from Montclair PD when they had a repeater on that.

If you find a CH 2 just let me know I would greatly appreaciate it.
Will do. But if you are near that area keep an eye on 453.0625/458.0625, They have a license on that repeater pair that was applied for and issued around the same time the 470.4000 frequency was. However 453.0625/458.0625 is only limited to 5 watts, I am wondering if its some kind of vehicle repeater or something like that since the wattage is so low.

I'm going to be in Franklin Lakes next week visiting family and will be bringing my Pro-96 along. I've set up a V-folder for most of the PD's/FD's in that area, along with some Rockland County stuff I want to monitor. I'll keep an ear out for anything on 453.0625/458.0625 during my stay. The last time I was there, Franklin Lakes was analog and the cars were hard to hear. Looking forward to hearing them loud & clear this time.

What are 477./480.125 and 477./480.350 under WPMF-280 being used for?

SCANdal

Those were the 2 other additional frequencies they were going to use for FD & DPW, but decided not to use them. They decided to put the FD's 154.2500 123.0 freq on a repeater in the future using the old pd freq 159.0900 as the input. AFAIK they had relinquished those frequencies, they had a waiver initially for permission to use one of them since it was a business freq.

Can anyone confirm if Franklin Lakes Fire is dispatching CSQ now, or are they still using 131.8. Last I checked, Wyckoff and Ridgewood dispatch were using 123.0 on the frequency and Allendale was using something else, can't remember.

The database now says that Franklin Lakes Fire 154.220 has a PL of 79.7. Did they just change it?
