What browser is your default browser for web pages. (Has nothing to do with freescan). If you don't know where to change this, please tell us what OS you are on.

According to the maps api web page, current chrome should work. I tried firefox 64.0, chrome 71, and edge (from OS 1809) and all of them get the same error message you got. So I think it's something different. I think that the author of freescan has not updated the interface since google made a change (and started billing for some class of usage of maps).

try Sixspot Software support links.

Basically what's going on is Google Maps JavaScript access is only allowed to the https URL and not http. Freescan is trying to access the http URL. Also a free developers key is required to access the Google Maps Javascript which Freescan is not using.
