Hi

I have noticed sometimes when I am using the web import feature either with win 96 or 97 that it will freeze up on me when doing a import of conventional systems. This usually happens if I am mixing a few conventional frequencies in with a trunked bank.

I am running the latest firmware versions 1.12 for 97 and 1.52 for Win 96.

Not that big of deal but I will have to use the old control ...alt ...delete to end task to get out of it and start all over again. Just wondering if others have had this happen to them.

I have never had that happen, but I generally start a new template and import everything in to that, make any text tag adjustments, etc, then copy the info into the P96 or P97 file. Just a safety thing so I don't screw up my "good" file. That may work better in your situation.

I do quite a bit of programming of trunked and conventional in the same bank. I haven't had win96 freeze up on me, although I had a similar problem with Win95. I noticed the problem more if I hadn't defragged in a while. Out of habit, when building a new file I save early and often.

I've seen Win96 apparently freeze up on me while importing conventional frequencies. If I do the three finger salute, it will show Win96 as not responding. Not true though. Sometimes, depending on your net connection, it just takes a while to pull up all the available conventional freqencies. The "Not Responding" error is bogus. Just wait a few minutes and you'll find that Win96 will pull up the conventional frequencies and allow you to import them.

No, all it means is that the program isn't responding at the moment, not that the program crashed. Write a program that tight-loops waiting on a timer or some external event, and Windows will consider it not responding. If Don uses a MS internet control, his program won't respond while waiting for data from the internet connection. Redmond warns against doing this, then distributes controls that do it.
