Hi, I was wondering if there is any way to find the frequencies for the channels, etc in the Database. I am thinking about getting a Motorola for the fun of it (I know it can be hard, but im fine with that), and I want to add some frequencies to it.

Ahmmmm have you looked at the frequencies in the RR Database, or the FCC files? Both of those have frequencies and much of the information you need for programming to hear them. Am I not understanding the question?

Hard to answer your question without you giving us specific info on exactly what or who you want to listen to?

Sorry, fire and rescue in my county. maybe the sheriffs office.
By "your county" I assume you mean Los Angeles County? Start below, it's a huge county. Local-specific questions are better addressed in your state's discussion forum

I don't know how to find the frequencies. Only like talkgroups or something.
Then you definitely won't do well with a professional radio (Motorola). Stick with a scanner

With your lack of knowledge, you are playing with fire getting a Motorola radio to program. It must be programmed as non-affiliate scan so it does not transmit into the radio system. Just turning the radio on transmits a signal showing the radio is active. When your radio is detected on the system, they can send a signal which will ruin your radio. You also stand the chance of being prosecuted. I would stay with scanners.

Best way to learn on programing scanners is by youtube videos depending what scanner you want. Software I'm sure there are videos on how program/setup.

I believe that Citrus County is 99% encrypted. The only chatter I've heard in the clear is Levy County EMS units calling into Tampa General on Hwy 19.

If you find anything else in the clear, please let us know. I'm not far from you.
