If i get a Uniden BCD325P2 to program for my area ( 800MHZ ) & the surrounding area is a 700MHz do i need to get a antenna that will receive 800MHz & 700MHz ?
You might want to look into a SDS100 or SDS200 due to the Leavenworth County Site on the Kansas Statewide System (if that's your intended listening target), is listed as simulcast. Alot of information on simulcast issues here with non-SDS scanners.

With simulcast an upgraded antenna will in most cases only make the issue worse unless you opt for a yagi pointed in the direction of the transmitting tower & no other simulcasting towers are in close proximity / same direction. Might not be feasible with a handheld like a 325p2 IMHO. As mentioned you'd be much better off with an SDSx00

Thanks for the info & did not realize simulcast was that much of an issue
Sometimes it's no issue at all. Usually it is, however. Uniden's SDS series are the only scanners designed to handle simulcast. They'll pick up just about everything you're allowed to monitor, not only in Leavenworth but Kansas City and anywhere else you might travel.

I was having a problem with GATTRS reception in the Round Rock/Pflugerville area. I could receive the Williamson and Bastrop Counties sites, but not Austin. This started after I moved the side table from one side of my recliner to the other. That's about 2 1/2 feet. Before the move I could get all three sites pretty well using the Remtronics 800 MHZ antenna.

Such is simulcast.

I finally ordered a Comet Miraclebaby and that fixed the problem. Not perfect and I may end up moving my SDS100 from room to room, but it's a lot better.
