I accidentially plugged a 12V (vs 6V) radio charger into my 396XT. Now, it won't charge or run off the AC adapter. It works fine if I charge the batteries externally. I assume there is some fuse or something that blew on the input, but can it be fixed?

if you're able to run off batteries i would say the radio can most likely be fixed. i'd send it in as soon as you can so you get it back 100% and can enjoy it 100% again sooner then later
You most likely blew a current protection device. A proper repair is in order.
Any luck on fixing yours? I did the same thing and also get the illegal voltage error. If I use alkaline batteries and flip the switch it will work for a while but it makes a hum if i turn the volume up past a certain point and will not decode digital.
