Frisco Police to encrypt all talk groups mid 2020

Frisco plans on encrypted all police traffic mid 2020. They are currently in purchase and acquisition phase with Motorola.

This doesn't look like it means they are going to for sure encrypt everything, just paying for them to be ready for encryption... unless you have heard elsewhere?

I am honestly surprised they are not already running encryption.

There is a little encryption on the Frisco system now, a few OP'S groups and CID, no brainers! I get encryption, have no real issue with it anymore but if you ask the Police they think every criminal under the sun is listening to them when it's quite the opposite. Criminals are too broke or too skitz'd to monitor ... Its the concerned home owner and the connected ham that do the most monitoring, they're people you would think they would have no problem with. Frisco is liberal enough though that I doubt they'll lock down the whole PD system. Or so I hope they don't ...
