Front USB cover/plug

In a few of pictures I've seen of the BCT15X and BCD996XT for sale, the front USB interface has a little cover over it. Amazon.com: Uniden Digital Mobile Scanner with 25,000 Channels and GPS Support (BCD996XT): Electronics I was hoping mine would come with one when I bought it brand new, but it didn't. I was not too surprised because almost every other unit I've seen has not had a cover.

I was curious though if these scanners where ever meant to have a cover over this port...it seams to make sense that they should have one. Is there a cover or plug I could get or do I have to make something (not too difficult to do).

Boy. I thought I was crazy. So....someone else saw the cover over the plug right there on the box. (the 996xt) Whew. I guess I am OK.

I too saw what you saw. I never thought to ask. Maybe someone knows the answer.

Lets see if we can shake the tree and get UpMan to explain this.

I personally dont care too much, I thought it odd seeing everyone without the plug...then I got mine and noticed it did not have one either.

The 996xt never came with a cover for the front serial port (it's not a USB port).

As mentioned, there is no such part (front port cover). The jack detail was lost in photo retouch.

Well thats disappointing, oh well. I see a decent market in making these covers/plugs then ...and maybe a plug for the 3.5mm stereo jack since a lot of people dont use it.
