I'm running an FTP server and eventually after a few connections have been made it starts returning a 425 error for people trying to connect. I have to restart the router to clear everything up, does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

what software are you using to run the FTP server?

have the users trying to connect using passive mode if they are using active and if they are using passive mode, try active. also, try checking your router settings.

I'm using Cerberus, I can't figure out how to force active. The FTP is set in the router and ports are open for passive.

Are you running SFTP or straight FTP? You need to run PASV if you are on regular FTP because your router performs NAT and confuses the client and server...

Is this ftp server running a DHCP or static IP address? It might be the dynamic IP address is changing from time to time for some reason (aside from lease expiration). If it is already set to a static IP address I'd look further at your passive mode settings.

From just a brief google this morning it is worth nothing that others have had difficulty with Cerberus and passive mode.

For what it's worth.

Yeah I did google searches, but no real definite solutions to the problem or they are talking about an older version of the software.
