I'm at work right now when I get home I'll send more. I lt was a little tricky (for me) to get it in there but it's working. How do you set the site to 0 it won’t let me delete the site ? Everything else is good

I tried it at another location this morning and couldn't get it to lock on. I'm gonna double check sone things when I get home in the PPS. At my house it finally kicked in, at a different location it wouldn't lock after multiple attempts. I'll check further. No good, tells me Out Of Range and I'm well within range of at least one site.. It works perfect when not using full spectrum.
Well noted, I’ll try to adjust the frequency and the step.I have located the problem I was experiencing with the G3 not locking onto a site while in full spectrum scan. I originally had the range set as start 151.0000, end 171.0000 step 6250 hz. I adjusted the frequencies to start 150.7225 end 171.3475 step 6250 hz. It is now locking onto the site that is local to me.
I'm gonna trim my scan spread down some. While mine is working I think I'll try to narrow it down to the actual lowest and highest needed. Glad you got it going.I have located the problem I was experiencing with the G3 not locking onto a site while in full spectrum scan. I haven't been out of range of the local site to test to see if it locates the next site. I have a day trip scheduled for next week (pending weather) that will take me into the range of another site. We shall seeI want to report back and say that for the information @RaleighGuy provided has gotten me scanning as I go thru the state. It's a little odd the way it locks in to sites but honestly it's moves pretty seamlessly from this one to that one once it finally acquires.
There is some delay quite often till it finds the first site and at least in my case probably every 3 out of 10 try's I have to switch knob positions and start the scan again.
Ok, thanks. I can only tell you it did switch between sites seamlessly once it finally acquired the first site. Obviously the best method would be to program in the stuff you want to hear along the way but, for something spur of the moment, it at least keeps you somewhat informed. I found that once I got used to a couple of things, it was easy to ID the State police by the transmitted ID's and other stuff (animal control for instance) by the conversation. While I'm still refining some of the settings, I was all in all pleased by the way it worked once it finally acquired the first site.Remember that a GPS system cannot anticipate where you are going, so the range ahead will be smaller than the range behind.
I had actually already switched it back. For IL I think I was ok but I switched back to "6250" anyway. Thanks.Keep in mind that phase 2 systems use 6.25KHz spacing, so I would just stick with that to cover all bases. Also, you can get an idea of your starting points by looking at the band plans for systems that you're interested in. That way you'll be able to see the exact spacing used and what the base frequencies are.
Made my trip today, and it was somewhat educational. The G3 performed better than expected. Not only did it find the next site that I expected, it also found two additional sites that I never even considered covering that area. Due to the terrain that I was in, it did loose signal and go out of range. I left it run and it either found the lost site or one of the other sites without any intervention from me. That's great. I'm still messing with mine. On a recent trip. It seems to connect to 700 sites a little easier than 800 sites but that being said once it acquired it switched around pretty seamlessly. Thanks for reporting back. Glad it worked for you!! We're you scanning VHF or UHF or a combination of both ??Made my trip today, and it was somewhat educational. I'm scanning strictly VHF with a G3. The G4 handles the 700/800 stuff. That's great. I'm still messing with mine. On a recent trip. Ya the reason I asked was about the G3. Given the G3 VHF side is on an internal antenna it's great it worked. I have only set up 700/800 on my one G5 at the moment once I get it refined I'll do a second G5 and maybe go ahead and do my extra G4 also. I just want to make sure I have it right on the one I use and not mess with the one my wife listens to.I'm scanning strictly VHF with a G3. The G4 handles the 700/800 stuff.
