I got my husband a Radiio Shack Pro 528 scanner for Christmas. He's not too handy when it comes to tech stuff and unfortunately neither am I but he is nearing retirement and I know he would enjoy knowing what was happening. We turned it on and sometimes pick up Fulton Co ambulance calls but that's pretty much been it. Does anyone know of anyone in the area who for a fee would do some custom programming for us and perhaps give him a lesson in usage. Please don't recommend Radio Shack - they were totally useless with any advice when I was buying it.

Thanks for any help.
You can e-mail Dunham1022@aol.com - this is his e-mail.

Thank You for possibly saving my sanity & marriage ...he has no patience ..lol.

I haven't seen the manual for the 528, so I don't know what the programming process is. If the directions are clear enough, then you can find good frequencies on the NF2G Scannist Pages at http://nf2g.com/scannist/index.html - click Frequencies on the left panel, then select Fulton from the county list, then Public Safety (or whatever category interests you) from the left menu.

Here is a quick crash course in setting up your radio:

Example, we will program the first 3 channels for Fulton Fire on NF2G's site into channels 1, 2, 3 on the radio.

  1. Press E/PGM to put the scanner into program mode
  2. Press '1' to select Memory Channel 1 (or 2 for channel 2, 3 for channel 3, etc)
  3. Press 'Scan/Manual'
  4. Use the Keypad to enter your frequency. (in this example: 154.2650)
  5. Press E/PGM to store the Frequency.

If you'd rather have someone do the radio for you, I do offer Programming Services (If you don't mind shipping to Long Island)

Let me know if the above 'crash course' helps you out at all.
