FYI FCC Map Licensing

FCC Tech Support said Map License is being phased out. Its been broke off and on
for years. I guess they can't get people to do the jobs huh. Anybody with clout with
them see if you can get it back, I used it all the time.

I prefer maprad.io querying & mapping over the FCC ULS anyway. The UI is much easier to use IMHO. What's this have to do with Software Defined Radio anyway?

My too. It gives a nice visual of stuff that's got wrong gps data. Like this from Long Island NY showing in PA.





Or this from 20 miles away, showing in the ocean. Actual transmitter location is the red X.

Often submissions to the FCC are wrong so in those cases it is not there fault. Examples I know include a hospital 45 miles southeast of me whihc is licensed to a an address in a city 50 miles north where the company that did the installation is located. I cannot count how many FCC licenses that are still active with expired licenses.

them to he RR database would be? I have a Whistler scanner and I have to be a paid member of RR to download data. I just can't
find the appropriate forum. My focus is finding systems that aren't documented and the FCC Mapping function helped me do that.

Your state's discussion forum would be a good place to start if you have local questions or want to try and "recruit" members near you to help you map unknown systems. Sometimes an extra set of eyes & ears can benefit you, especially if you're not always within range of your target stations. Be sure to read the RR database submission guidelines here. Lastly be sure to utilize the RR database's query search to double check that the info you gathered doesn't already exist in the DB. Best wishes & happy DX!

Thanks thats basically what I have been doing for years. Used the Map License function to rotate my antenna toward. Working on
a site that I can't seem to get a handle on. The web site maprad.io seems to be a good replacement for the FCC web site, thanks
for showing it to me. 73 for now as the good ol boys down on 80 meters say. Never could copy code.

I use this site quite frequently: https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/General_Menu_Reports/ (then select Site/Market/Frequency) I use it to get a listing of all FCC licenses within a radius of a certain lat/long. It's handy to answer questions like "who all is on this tower?".

Pull up an actual license
ie: ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - WPZW929 - Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid Association
and then click on the MAP tab

I've used ULS and GenMen for years and the only Map I've seen WORK was on the individual License page, not the returned list
which is why many use maprad.io
