• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I’m looking at looking at can’t find anything to adjust the sounds or vibration settings.

Someone says this might have been removed from the g5. Can anyone confirm?

also

when I plug the unit into my new pc it recognizes the unit no problem but there is no eject button in the lower right corner of the pc. I hate just pulling usb cables out. Anyone else with this in windows 11

In the pps you can choose what is in the menus . I think it's tab 7 if I recall correctly. You can adjust the functions settings and f. Sts menus. As for eject, no you can't eject it.

So is yours the same? As far as missing the vibration and different rings?
If you can’t eject how do you safely remove the hardware (g5) from the pc? Won’t that mess up the radio?

No I have mine added. I set my pager up with those on the menu. Is this your pager or one issued to you?

I just bought it. Did you have to add it or it came with it on the g5 already?

No radio that I’ve ever programmed has required windows to eject it. It’s safe to remove your pager once it’s done programming.

As far as the sound and vibrate, you choose what kind of tone you want when you’re assigning the Group IDs, Tab 5. Once that’s set, you can choose for it to tone, tone and vibrate, etc. If you want different options per zone or per knob setting, you can select it in Tab 6.

If you’re looking to change how the pager tones on the go, you need to select that option in the function settings tab, I believe either Tab 7 or 8.

Have you read your pager to get the correct model number? And then selected to edit the codeplug? What tab options are you seeing on the left side?

The printed manual was issued in 2015, seven years ago, and was never updated. Many of the original functions that were in the manual have changed or been removed. That manual is now meant as a guide, not as the list of actual functions available in the current firmware. For the best results and accurate information you should contact the dealer you bought it from.

I’m sorry I’m bothering you and you are troubled by my posts. I’ll be more observant next time.

Have you tried any YouTube videos? You should check out some of the programming videos if you haven’t already. That way you can get a visual of what it’s supposed to look like and how it all gets set up. I recommend starting with this video:

In addition to the Type (G4,G5) and Band Split, keep in mind there are multiple model numbers for each version, when you create your profile in tab C-1 make sure you select the correct model number, and that the pagers Firmware is up to date.
