• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

It found CC but shows this: RFSS/Site:1/15 Site 15 is South zone, so it must have locked on to that zone...it is the strongest in my area....a few calls came in...only showing ID numbers or something....talk groups? But its working.

Yep i found it....I will reprogram. I also noticed in pic below theres only 2 sites.....shouldnt all of them be in there?

Nope, you DID NOT find it, I think you are looking at the wrong profile. You are also looking in the wrong place. FROM NOW ON, all changes or questions or screenshots should be done in E2, we are done with C1.

Let's do this, close the PPS, open the PPS, go to TAB E and READ FROM DEVICE. After it reads it open up (unless it opens it automatically) and go to TAB E1-2 and rename the PROFILE NAME to whatever you want. Click SAVE at the bottom.

Go back to the first page of the PPS, go to TAB E and delete all profiles except for the one with the new name.

Sent while typing post #22 (and enjoying Easter weekend with family)...but still do what I suggested.

At this point, we got you running. Any other questions are either in YouTube vids (most are out dated with older PPS) or in the Unication forum, use the search at the top right and if you really get stuck as in the forum. There are lots of people here who are very knowledgeable.

OK thank you....everything is working fine. I will get used to this radio for a while and then at a later time see if I can use those other 2 knob positions. I saw in a older video you can store up to 16 conventional freqs in a zone.

You can assign up to 16 conventional frequencies to a knob. But it scans conventional extremely slowly so 16 will cycle through so slowly that you will miss traffic.

hahaha I guess I wasted my money on the DMR upgrade! Theres a bunch of local commercial DMR signals and I have them in my scanners. I wanted to put a few in the G5. There are no DMR "systems" around here with exception of a DPW a few towns away. I tried searching for programming DMR but no luck yet.

In an absolute pinch, I use the G5 for other stuff and DMR and in my case with VHF when I'm out and about to pop on to the weather band and listen to NOAA weather. Frankly other devices work way better for actual scanning of an analog or DMR system or frequencies. I'm not saying you shouldn't try and get it to work on those but I found in my case it was a waste unless I got caught out with only my G5 and was in one specific town that still uses DMR for their local PD.

The G pagers don't work (trunk track) on trunked DMR systems, just conventional DMR.

Yes thats exactly what I wanna do...I have a frequency/tg/cc/slot for RI Energy......and same thing for the Crown Plaza Hotel....same thing for a few hospitals....just single stand alone frequencies with the color codes/slot number/talk group....I want to individually program them. Then assign all 16 of them to knob #7. I am looking for videos on youtube but they are mostly OLD and none for what I am trying to do.

This is how I have them programmed in my uniden BCD996P2 scanner......just for receive so no slot 1 or 2 needed.....just the name/color code / freq and DMR mode

You must set DMR frequencies up with a profile for slot one or slot two, which means one frequency with traffic on two slots must be entered twice. The additional profile (you already have a profile for slot 1) is setup in E4 by clicking on ADD and selecting DMR and then making the change from SLOT 1 to SLOT 2 as shown below;

OK I understand, so for example if I want to monitor the Crown Plaza, I would program twice, one slot 1 and the other slot 2. I assume if there is a business that only uses ONE time slot, I wouldnt need to do same thing over again only using BOTH slots. Most of the ones I monitor use color code 1 time slot 1. Also most of the DMR freqs/businesses I use are NOT on RR so I need to MANUALLY enter the data. I will go into the program in E4 and do what you said. I read in another post I would need to set "monitor mode" and "repeater"....I will tackle this in depth after weekend cause I think I am becoming a pest!
