G5 user defined questions

Hi. Im not sure i understand some of the times descriptions in the G5 pps in 2 tone user defined protocol section. All our tones are motorola tones on vhf analog at standard tone a: 1 sec and tone b: 3 secs. What is the signal activity timeout and what is a good setting in user defined protocol? Right now i have it at 40ms. And also what is the RX timeout and a good time to have it at? Right now it's at 2500ms. Any help would be great thanks

Same situation as you, Motorola tones on VHF analog w/ same durations, e.g. Tone A = 1s, Tone B = 3s

Here's what works: I've used the default settings under "Motorola" and has worked flawlessly for multiple departments. The only setting you could change when selecting "Motorola" is at bottom, "Signal Detect Wait Time." I've left that at default of "400" ms and its worked well. The help info in the sidebar says it can be 0-1500ms in increments of 1ms, recommendations are 400ms for Motorola/GE, 0ms for Plectron/Fast Plectron/Reach/Fast Reach. Note: I've attached a screenshot of the 2-Tone setting that's worked flawlessly for me.

To specifically answer your question: Signaling Activity Timeout is how long the G2/3/4/5 pauses on the channel while trying to detect a 2tone signal. Which would seem to clash with the option "Stay Time" when you're programming a specific Zone+Knob. The default in the "Motorola" presets is 200ms, and that's worked fine for me.

Thanks for your reply. I had issues with the regular Motorola tones protocol. The G5 would have a 1 second delay in transmissions when normal scanning my channels with the pl/dpl codes enabled. It would even skip whole transmissions that were quick. Now that i selected the user defined protocol, it works and theres no delay or missing the beginnings of transmissions during normal scan and i can have the pl/dpl codes enabled. It works so far for me on user defined. I am hearing everything that im supposed to.
