Hi,

My town will be converting to a simulcast system later this year. Currently, they've patched 2 of their analog VHF channels into the new system. I've updated my scanner (SDS100) to include this now and have noticed a lot of garbled transmissions, but also clear ones. I know these scanners aren't perfect with simulcast, but anyone have ideas?

Not all garbled audio is caused by Simulcast.

It could be a case of Garbage in Garbage out. No radio can "un-garble" some transmissions, right?

Perhaps that's the way it sounds leaving the transmitter?

Only way to tell for sure is to listen on a professional radio on the system.

Interesting, as the city next to me runs on the same simulcast system and they sound fine for the most part. Guess I'll have to wait until my town fully transitions over later this year and they shutdown the analog system.

Patching analog to P25 usually never really sound very good. I'd hold off on making any judgements until the system is finished and operating as it was intended.
