A 911 dispatch center is in jeopardy in one Kentucky county. A meeting will be held Monday in Garrard County to discuss the issue.

Garrard County officials are once again considering closing the county's 911 center.

Officials say they can save money by having state police take over incoming emergency calls.

The issue was also discussed about a year ago. Monday's meeting will be at 6pm at the Garrard County courthouse.

Oh yeah, save money, forget the ones thier there to serve. So I guess KSP is jost going to grin and bear it, I don't think so. There will be longer delays in dispatching fire dept, ambulances, and sheriff deputies. Seems the people of that county can expect higher insurance premiums and of course the funeral homes will probably benefit from it. I'm glad I don't live there. Those officials will understand their mistacke if they do that when one of thier family members dies or house burns down or the sheriff deputies didn't get there in time. Dumb, dumb, bumb...

Knox County was like for a long time until almost 2 yrs ago or so when they got a new sheriff and he done regular 24 hour patrols.

Now the county is having to go back to KSP patrols mostly because Knox county cant pay for their deputies. The sheriff still has like two or three cops on duty every shift. Before then the sheriff dept worked a 9 am to 5 pm shift Mon through FRI. Mostly doing court duty and assited KSP every once in a while. It was hard on KSP but they did do it.
