I ran across a P25 CC on 164.820 which is likely RENIR but doesn't
look like any listed close to me; could be Calumet Site 279 switched
CC's as I don't hear in on 153.185 anymore. Also, ran across a P25 voice
channel 165.495 which is listed as RENIR but again not near my location,
so might be a new one for some other site.

I found a P25 voice channel on 868.1875 which does not seem to be
listed; could belong to Gatineau system as there is no other 800MHz
P25 that I am aware in this area. I also thought I heard something on
868.2125 but rechecked and don't hear anything.

868.1875 definitely seems to be associated with the Gatineau system, don't
know which site.

Also, 867.6125 is listed for two sites (1 and 5) ; could be true depending
on geograhic separation, or is it a typo? Same with 866.2625 on SIte 2 and
Site 4.

Lastly, why is Site 4 transmitting continuosly on all four frequencies....?

Dave

PS what are the locations for each site; not looking for exact info, generally which
sector is served by which site(s).

No takers on this....?

I heard P25 noise on 868.2125 from the east end of Ottawa (Orleans), so maybe it's something
in the Buckingham area (just a guess).

Site 5: Masson
Site 6: Buckingham

From Blvd Greber in Gatineau nothing is coming in on 868.2125, will have to go further toward Buckingham like you mentioned to see if it makes any difference...

RENIR Site 078 (CC 140.595) voice channels are not as listed. TGs 30544 and 31253
active, both ENC (MTQ?).

I submitted a bunch of stuff for RENIR and HydroQuebec months ago. Some was rejected (incorrectly, IMO), some was just never worked (still sitting open unworked in the submission queue).

Good luck on getting these systems updated in the DB.

I'm not planning to submit, stopped doing that about 5 years ago. I used to
update the old H-Q system and a number of commercial trunked systems,
some in W. Quebec. Reasons are not specific to any province, more detail
would not be good for this thread, better in some other forum (or maybe the
Tavern...)

Right now I just dig some basic information, pass it on, and others can
take it from there: confirm and submit...or not. To reword an old cliche,
people will get the database they deserve...

I'm getting zero decode on RENIR with UniTrunker, so using a combination
of existing database records, conventional scanning, and manual programming
into PSR-600. No software yet but will get something soon, at least I know
how to program the thing by hand. Two of three VC's I mentioned were
found with nothing more than manual band searching, although that could
not confirm at the time (except by the frequencies) that they were RENIR,
and not which site they belonged to. I could tell they were test transmissions
(by decoding in my head *just kidding*) by the duration/interval and regular
quality of the sound.

So we'll see what happens; there are some good folks around who still do
legwork (or offering to), would be nice if the scanner community had a
broader involvement in keeping the database that they are so reliant on
now, updated and accurate; not holding my breath on that one.

TG 31253 showed up on RENIR site 249 (Ripon) on 164.190, encrypted as before.

CC on 152.915 is moderately strong up around Shawville so I suspect it's to the north
or north-west, but that's all I could tell at the time.

868.1875 belongs to Gatineau site 2; don't know about 868.2125.

152.915 you say it's stronger toward shawville???

I did the decoding in Shawville using Pro96Com and the info in the DB is the info I submitted. It was decoded about 2 months so not sure if they added new site.

Will run Pro96Com again by next week ams try to figure out where 152.915...

Thx,

I don't mean to nitpick, but even though your scanner is showing that as site 249, it's actually RFSS (zone) 2, site 049.

That's one of the things I submitted this summer that was ignored - changing the sites so they show properly. I know it doesn't matter for most scanners, but it definitely does matter for trunker type programs (Unitrunker, PRO96COM, etc). Site 000-249 does not equal site 002-049.

All the sites in RENIR, Hydro Quebec, etc., that are listed as 1xx or 2xx should actually be 001-0xx or 002-0xx.

Sorry for the diatribe... carry on... :)

Not nitpicking at all, though I was just going by the database. Another problem here is that the
PSR-600 does not display RFSS and Site on RENIR despite 99% decoding rate, but it does
for Gatineau (and Sys ID, WACN, NAC). I've been fighting with some other things so don't have
all the tools set up and working yet. Still a mystery why UniTrunker isn't decoding RENIR
in spite of a great "eye" on stronger sites according to UniScope; and some strong H-Q
sites also have zero decode.

It was moderate strength along Hwy 148 between Aylmer and Shawville; obviously not very
close to Shawville as there' s a site there already. In Ottawa I can barely hear 152.915 with an
omni antenna at 35 ft, with filter inline, but 153.605 is fair strength. That's why I suspect it's
north or north-east. It was not a location-finding trip, only simple reciever so info is a bit vague
(I also usually go further west and cross over at Cheneux to Renfrew, but doubled back at
Shawville this time). Great side trip on monday though, warmest Thanksgiving I can recall,
had a nice stop at Norway Bay (used to go there every July, way way back...)

Regarding CC on 164.820, which is now decoding 80+ %, it might be Calumet site
000-279 with a CC change from 153.185 which I could receive at one time; but it's
coming in stronger than it should for the distance, yet nothing else listed makes sense.

I had similar issues with my PSR500 on Newfoundland's P25 system - no RFSS/Site and rarely a NAC. I can only guess that it's some kind of change to the P25 control channel that the GRE code doesn't handle. I wonder if the Nfld and the RENIR system have the same vendors/builders..

I have had Unitrunker successfully decode on RENIR on the following sites, on the following dates:

001-043 and 002-078 - July 26 2011
002-001 and 002-032 - Sept 08 2011

The runs on Sept 08 were using my PSR500 via the CC Dump (USB) as well as on my 396XT via the CC Dump (USB). I don't know which scanner received 14F for July 26 - I have the logs, but they don't exactly shout out which scanner they've been run by.

HydroQuebec P25 I have decoded on Unitrunker thusly:

001-024, 001-031, 001-042, 001-048, 001-064, 001-071, 001-074, 001-077 - all on July 17 2011
001-022, 001-043, 001-060 - all on July 26 2011
001-011, 001-012, 001-013, 001-015, 001-016 - all on Sept 08 2011

The runs on July 17 and July 26 were done with my PSR800 via CC Dump (USB). I don't know which scanner I used for Sept 08 - my logs are not complete for that day.

Best of luck with it!

Thanks J, BTW which Unitrunker version (I am running 1.0.0.20 plus classic version), and what's
the CC Dump utility?

I see what you mean about RFSS/Site in H-Q database. I decode 001-043 also. Oddly,
nearby Mont Cascades site 001-050 is very strong but doesn't decode in Unitrunker or PSR600, so
there is something neither is handling.

Unitrunker would have been whatever version was available at that time (.22 or .23 depending on the time, I think). By "CC Dump" I just mean getting the control channel data from the scanner via USB - it's not a separate utility.

On the subject of H-Q, what is shown as Site 160 (which I decode as 001-060) is
tagged as un-ID'ed. It is Petite-Nation, east of Gatineau, which looks similar to the old
system (4e2a) site, at least two of three channels.

If the site ID is to be listed in the DB as one number, should it not be 1060 etc.?

The site SHOULD NOT be listed as one number in the DB. The "1" should be in the RFSS column and the remaining numbers in the Site column.

If you look at the Gatineau system (Gatineau Trunking System, Gatineau, Quebec - Scanner Frequencies), it is programmed correctly in the DB. The HQ and RENIR systems are listed completely wrong. (The separate entry for the Montreal Fire part of RENIR is corrected.)
