Is anyone else seeing a constant carrier on 154.875 Genesee County Fire Paging? I had to lock it out of my Western Finger Lakes feed and it seems to be their base stations are stuck keyed up.

It is still on this morning. It is the Genesee County system since I hear the normal paging on it but it stays keyed all the time. I am going to have to leave it out of the feed.

Even out here in Amherst using a portable I’m hearing what you’re describing. Definitely interesting.

Yes, at first I thought there was something interfering in my shack, but I took a different scanner out to mow the lawn and heard it there too.

If I'm not mistaken that channel is CSQ so if they are still using it for pagers it's probably working for that.

It has been on for 3 days now and they probably don't care since it is just paging.

Genesee has been a nuisance on my feed since it is CSQ and Chemung County is co-channel P25. I have a Yagi aimed at Genesee, somewhat to the detriment of my reception of the other counties, to null the signal from Chemung. But, with strong ducting, P25 still breaks the squelch and I have to lock out Genesee until it quiets down. Also, since they are CSQ, they are running their deviation very high so their audio level is way higher that the other counties. I have to run my feed audio with them on the verge of distortion to get reasonable audio levels on the others.

I am not sure how long the carrier has been on there. It is full quieting so I didn't notice anything on the feed until I realized I was not hearing the other counties and found the scan was stuck on Genesee. Then I thought it was local interference until I checked with my service monitor and could see it was exactly on frequency and I could detect the beat from the simul transmitters. Finally I heard them paging on it that confirmed who it was.

This may be the last straw for me and I may drop Genesee from my feed permanently.

The Genesee carrier is still on this morning. It must be intentional.

I am deleting Genesee from my feed. Genesee may be added to the Orleans feed that has the receiver in Orleans County that is far enough away from Chemung that the P25 won't be a problem. But, if Genesee keeps the constant carrier up it would require a dedicated receiver since it locks up scan.

The constant carrier went off a while ago. No way am I putting Genesee back on my feed. I am getting better reception on all the other counties by re-aiming my antenna without having to worry about nulling Chemung.

If the stuck carrier does not return so the channel can be scanned it may be added to the Orleans feed if it will not cause problems there.

Sounds like your feed will be much better off without Genesee. If someone misses it that much, let them host their own feed!

Someone has a Genesee County feed now from the P25 system that has dispatch and fireground so it is covered now. The purpose of my feed is a single point to monitor dispatch activity in regional counties. It is an adjunct to @pebblebacon's feed of the UHF counties in the area. I originally tried to include Orleans in my feed but my coverage was too marginal so he put a feed up from a site in Orleans. We are discussing adding Genesee to that feed if it can be scanned without interference and there are no more continuous carrier issues.
